  1. Exactly. It might be harder to get an extension for a players without 10/5 rights... like Crochet. The team needs to be in on the idea. I'm not sure what that type of deal was last made.
  2. It might be hard to prove that the extension was agreed upon, before the deal was made, but I think it was. I'd rather trade for the 25 year old Crochet and extend him than Framber.
  3. Fried is expected to choose his team, soon. The Sox, Yanks and Jays appear to be the "frontrunners." You gotta think the Yanks will try hard for Burnes or Fried, after missing out on Soto.
  4. Another pitcher with an injury history. Typical.
  5. Yes, and the lower value of DHam vs the higher cost of Castillo apparently balances things out, pretty much.
  6. I had mentioned on an earlier post, that although I haven't seen a trade contingent on an extension in quite a while, I would do the trade, if we had that.
  7. If we could extend him. I guess I need to post mile long posts to explain it.
  8. I'm not high on Crochet, but with Woo & Miller, the park matters and they have limited times of great success, too: (Both have one great half season, each.) ERA/FIP Woo 4.21/4.36 2023 in 18 starts (94 ERA+) 2.06/2.72 first 14 games '24 3.67/4.09 last 9 starts (just 23 GS in '24 at 3.40 FIP and 127 ERA+) Miller 4.32/3.98 in 2023 in 25 GS (91 ERA+) 3.90/4.17 in first 16 GS of 2024 1.94/2.96 in last 15 GS (125 ER+ for full 2024 season) Crochet: 2020-2023, some as RP: 2.71/3.16 in 73 IP (164 ERA+) He had a 115 ERA+ in 2024 (not as good as Miller or Woo) 3.25/2.61 first 16 GS in '24 4.08/2.80 Last 16 GS in '24- a VERY NICE FIP I'd say they look pretty close, except for the years of control. Career 3.29/2.84 Crochet (128 ERA+) 3.44/3.80 WOO (110 ERA+) 3.52/3.75 Miller (107 ERA+)
  9. Eventually, we should win one. At least one should not be hundreds of millions.
  10. We just need 1. My guess is 4-7 are out there, including FA Diaz and Grandal.
  11. With an extension?
  12. I get the point. IMO, Anthony is my #1 RF'er going into 2025. Yes, he has to win the job, but to me, it's more like it's his to lose. I think Abreu will be traded.
  13. The 45 day window on signing Sasaki has begun. Maybe we go this route.
  14. I'm hoping Jh Garcia, Bleis and Cespedes work themselves into the top 100. Jo Garcia could be a mover and shaker. If Romero keeps improving, he may finally reach the potential many once thought he had. Other risers might be Valera, Ingrassia, Reyes and Wehunt- maybe a draft pick not named Montgomery.
  15. I hope you are right. I have not given up on him.
  16. We need 2 quality pitchers, more. If it's two SP'ers, Crawford could be a nice long man and spot starter. Fried and Hoffman/Estevez would be great. Manaea and Yates/Kittredge would be okay. Flaherty and Nate would be okay, too, I guess. Pivetta and Martin, or the like, is what we might get.
  17. He signed a two-year minor league deal. I'm not sure that can be called "big." We knew he was out for 2024, and the hope was he might give us something in 2025. He may still do that, if he earns his way onto the 40.
  18. I'm back to where I was, last winter. It's crying sham.
  19. He is better than Wong on defense, but so are about 50-60 other MLB catchers. He's not getting any younger. He is not good working with pitchers. He's making $10M. He is near the bottom of my list for an upgrade on Wong's overall profile. At $2-3M a year, maybe $4M, I'd take him over Wong
  20. If he hits .680-.700 he'll be a net plus- not a plus worth $23M, but still better than Rafaela, DHam & Co. If he hits .720-.740, it would make a difference. .760-.780 is about his ceiling, IMO. That would be nice. Maybe he has one .800 year in him, left. His D is among the best of the best.
  21. Don't be surprised, if we see Pivetta, again.
