  1. Today, we lost... 4. Teel (Crochet trade) 5. Montgomery (Crochet trade) 8. Meidroth (Crochet trade) 18. Wikelman (Crochet trade) 39. Bastardo (Rule 5)
  2. Very steep. 2 of our top 5 prospects, plus Meidroth (a top 10.)
  3. Crochet only pitched over 65 innings, once, including college. This is very risky, but the guy can pitch.
  4. We needed a "bridge" catcher to Teel, anyway. Now, we need a long term catching solution.
  5. That's more than I thought it would take to get 2 years of an injury-prone pitcher with a half season of success. I guess the going rate is pretty high. What can we get for Crawford or Bello?
  6. Kelly has signed elsewhere.
  7. Bastardo selected by Jays.
  8. Wow, Teel, Montgomery, Meidroth and Wikelman. (Only one on the 40.) According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the full deal sends Teel, outfield prospect Braden Montgomery, infield prospect Chase Meidroth and right-hander starting pitching prospect Wikelman Gonzalez to the White Sox.
  9. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the full deal sends Teel, outfield prospect Braden Montgomery, infield prospect Chase Meidroth and right-hander starting pitching prospect Wikelman Gonzalez to the White Sox.
  10. Good bye, Teel. We hardly knew ya. I hope we don't stop here.
  11. Although I think Mayer is better than Teel, I think I'd rather keep the catcher, since Wong looks so scary behind the plate. Now, we need a catcher, badly.
  12. Exactly! Nate turns 35, soon. 110 ERA+ in 314 IP the last 2 years. Nick has a 108 ERA+ since 2023 in 288 IP. Nick turns 32 about the same time Nate turns 35. Based on this, he should get $78-84M/3.
  13. I'm fine with a DHAM-Grissom platoon at 2B, if we fix other bigger holes- like an ace, a closer and a catcher who can catch.
  14. Yes, but they don't hold a shareholders vote for any signings.
  15. Thinking you can get a top FA at "rock bottom prices" shows naiveté or just plain ole stupidity. I don't think it's that. I think it's all one long con game aimed at convincing enough fans that they are making a serious effort to improve the team, and coming up just short makes them look better than not "trying" at all. In the past, I wasn't sure if they actually believed Paxton, Kluber and Richards would lead them to respectability, but that was different than going after all the top fish, publically. Even then, they did not pretend to go for the best of the best like now. Back then, it was Eflin, Nate and the like- not Soto, Fried and Burnes.
  16. On a value level, yes or no? Your answer can set me straight or keep me wondering.
  17. If he doesn't feel the pressure to do something, this winter, he more out of touch than cheap, IMO. There is bullying in process.
  18. I'll give Mayer for Crochet. I did say that a while ago, though. You are right. We can get a pitcher not as good as Crochet without a top prospect being involved.
  19. To me, Devers throwing is the major issue. At 1B, he'd be a fine goalie.
  20. Everytime we suggest a trade, you claim who you have is better. That leads me to believe you think you have better players or options at every position. Who would you give us for Bello or Crawford? Would you give Miller or Woo for even both combined?
  21. Can't they trade or DFA minutes before a pick?
  22. That's how I see it. Pick the guy you really want- maybe factor in removing some you think other will most grossly overpay for (Soto.) Just get it done on one and make a trade for a second guy.
  23. I wasn't talking about just an ace. Trade 3 everyday players for a good pitcher, even if the total value exchange is an overpay. I've mentioned I'd give up Mayer for 2 years of Crochet, despite the fact that he never pitched over 65 innings until 2024- even in college. (I'd even add secondary prospects.) I think I have suggested fairly nice packages for Crochet, Lopez and Castillo. If you look at the BTV numbers, many would not be accepted due to gross overpays by me as the Sox GM. For example, I do not think Miller and Woo are as good as their SEA numbers indicate, but I do think they are better than Crawford, Bello and Gio. Neither is an ace or ever will be, yet I'd offer Casas and Abreu plus Fitts or Sandlin, if needed. You think this is undervaluing pitching?
