    That's crazy! It's actually 3 division leaders and 9 teams over or under the last WC slot by 2.5 games> The Sox have played 2-3 more games than most other teams, so we don't look as good in the loss column (T8) but are 6th in Ws.

    Tibbs and Ehrhard had 2 hits, each in POR's close loss. WOO won 9-4 as Murphy pitched a scoreless inning with no hits or walks and 2 Ks. Jordan continued his rise with another 3 hits game. He's at .934 and passed Jh Garcia at .916, who had a 1-4 night. Rosier homered (.803) and Hickey keeps it warm w 2 hits. GRE lost, but Aita looked good: 7IP, 8H, 2ER, 1BB, 3K. Bleis, Taylor and YRod had the only 3 hits. Taylor walked 3 times. SAL lost. Cespedes (.711) and De Leon (.656) each had 2 hits.

    It seems like the Rays always play above their "on paper" expectations. I knew the Jays got better, and felt they and the Sox were the only ALE teams that did get better over the winter. I also felt the Astros got worse, and the other good teams from 2024, DET, KCR, SEA & CLE did nothing to Wow me. That was the major reason I had hope for 2025. I liked our roster moves, but the rest of the league's mediocrity really got me liking our outlook. The injury bug has really hit us, and I'm glad we had good depth. When you think of it, Dobbins, Narvaez, Toro, Romy and the kids were all considered depth. Wilson was looked on as our 6th or 7th Rp'er.

    If Sean Murphy could learn to play 1B and be the back-up catcher to Narvaez, would ATL do this trade? To ATL: Story ($25M x 2 + $25M option for 2028 w $5M buyout) Basically $55M/2 or $75M/3 $10M a year for '27 & '28 plus $5M for buyout in '29= $25M Wong (3 arbs left) Winckowski (3 arbs left) To BOS: Murphy ($15M x 3 + $15M option for 2029- no buyout) Ozuna ($16M '26 then FA) The money is about the same for 2025, 2026 and 2027. ATL saves $15M in 2028. We get Ozuna to DH for 2025 and Murphy to back-up Narvaez and hopefully play 1B for the remainder of his deal. We replace Story's money with Murphy's, counting the money going to ATL. We open up the SS slot for Mayer. 2B would be open for Campbell/Romy and eventually Arias/Romero. It would be nice to get Sale back, but I doubt we could pull that off.

    He is pretty streaky. .324 OPS in his previous 23 PAs .519 in the 43 PAs before that. .456 combing the two (last 66 PAs) He was at .694 the 28 PAs before those 66. .529 last 94 .980 his first 140 PAs

    Maybe Abreu DHs some as he returns from rehab, but Anthony and Abreu are better on D than Duran and Refsnyder. I think Duran and Ref get most of the DH time. v R LF: Anthony CF: Rafaela RF: Abreu DH: Duran v L LF: Duran CF: Rafaela RF: Anthony DH: Refsnyder

    The NL is much better, at least with their top 4 teams and probably their next 5 or 6 are as good as the AL's. COL & PIT are really bad and MIA & WSH are pretty bad, but so are the CWS. The O's and As might be better than the worst 2-4 NL teams. The AL has 2 teams tied for the last WC slot (BOS & CLE) but also has 5 more teams within 2.5 games of the playoffs and BAL is just 6.5 back, as bad as they have played. That shows how bad, mediocre or balanced the AL is. Choose your term. The NL is more defined. 4 teams are 9 or more out and another is 5.5 out (ATL seems better than BAL at 6 games out.) They have 4 teams either tied of within 3 games of the last WC slot. (The AL has 7.) This alone gives us a shot, IMO. I'm no smarter than you for believing this to be true.

    Combining two injury reports... Bregman underwent testing Wednesday and the results will determine the next step. (Out until at least July 1st. I gotta think after ASB) Houck is currently rehabbing. (July 4) Crawford threw a pen session Tuesday and will again on Friday. (July 10) Hicks will throw to live batting practice, today. (June 24) Yoshida has been throwing from LF to 2B since Thursday. Not sure what this has to do with being a DH. (JUN 30...LOL) Slaten has not begun throwing, yet. (July 1, but no way.) Hendriks is playing catch (6/27?) , while Burdi will begin rehab, this week. (6/19?) Murphy (June 28) Wink (July 18) Sandoval (Aug 1)

    There is no need to stretch the truth. Citing the .495 OPS is plenty. He's still a plus on D at 2B, something we have not had at 2B for years. He's still a plus at baserunning. Why does someone have to totally suck at everything to not deserve a roster slot?

    Word is Abreu is getting the call. That was quicker than I expected. I think we all like KC more than DHam & Eaton, but if he wasn't going to play more often than not, then this was the right thing to do.

    Fair enough. I see it like this. The AL sucks, this year. We had a shot, and yes, it depended on how well our pitching does. Most of us thought our pen would suck, and it has done better than suck. Most thought our rotation was stronger and deeper than years past and that the D was better and O about the same. Certainly, our chances get lower without Devers. He wasn't blocking any prospect or better DH in our system. Maybe we would not have made it with Devers. We'll never know, now. I'm thinking he had to go, too, but I'm not going to sugarcoat the loss by saying he didn't help us over the last X amount of games, or that some rookie just homered, so all is good. It's not. We are not as good as we were 3 days ago. Can we still win? Yes, the AL still sucks, and we still have some talent and some upside younger players. I do think adding Hicks and Harrison helped our pitching in 2025. Maybe it will be by just enough to squeak us into the dance- maybe not.

    The problem is, we have nobody else even close. Our closest players are all platoons: Abreu-Refsnyder Romy-Toro. Bregman counts, for sure, but when is he due back? Narvaez has done the job, but he still has to show he can do this over a full season (or more.)

    Anthony has a .416 OPS. I have a lot of faith in him, but please don't imply he is winning more games than losing, so far.
