  1. Yoshida is clearly the best bench bat we have, at least until Romy and Casas return. Campbell may work his way up to that position, but unless there is a place for him to play FT, he will not be promoted. IKF gives us very nice defensive depth and flexibility. He gives us next to nothing on offense. Monasterio is a better bat than IKF and can play 1B, too.
  2. This is why I wanted to trade him.
  3. That was never a question to me.🤔
  4. Angel Bastardo might end up back with BOS as he is not making the roster as a 2024 Rule 5 pick that misses 2025 with an injury.
  5. I guess the Thaiss decision is so minor, no reporting was necessary.
  6. 1. Anthony DH 2. Story SS 3. Duran LF 4. Contreras 1B 5. Abreu RF 6. Durbin 3B 7. Mayer 2B 8. Rafaela CF 9. Wong C
  7. We do have hope that Justin Gonzalez can save the '24 signing period, but yes, that was a major whiff. '23 looks to be all about Arias. '25 still looks good. (Soto, Rivas, Ramos...)
  8. Eaton can play 3B, too, but we have that covered. I agree. I'm not sure why notin calls it a "no brainer."
  9. Yanks to start season with 4 man rotation with Gil the odd man out. They have 4 of their first 13 days off.
  10. Kind of a strange contract extension given by DD to C Sanchez. He was only in year two of a 5 year extension at a very team friendly rate ($47M/5.) DD basically handed out $60M for his ages 34 and 35 season with a $44.5M option for age 36 season ($1M buyout.) The Phillies already have Wheeler & Nola under control to their age 37 seasons and Luzardo to age 34.
  11. No, Monasterio is not a lock. I stated "Monasterio or Eaton". I think it's a toss up and since Cora might have a big say, maybe he wants Eaton. I like Monasterio as a Mayer platoon bat more, but not by much. sp.com has this projected bench: Wong, Yoshida, IKF & Monasterio. Eaton over Monasterio changes things very little.
  12. Maybe 23-24 right? How is this supporting your claim that ST'ing matters very little in who makes the 26? Okay, injuries matter more, but that doesn't change how the final slots are chosen.
  13. Rankings by farm level: DSL: 33 Silverio, 34 Brito FCL: 9 Soto, 20 Delzine, 21 Ramos, 22 Rivas, 27 Cason, 32 Primera, 44 J Rodriguez, 53 Ogando, 56 Bravo A-: 18 Azocar, 29 Guzman, 31 Heyman, 45 Foutch, 52 Morgan, 54 Bello, 55 Fermin, 58 Patton A+: 4 Witherspoon, 5 Valera, 7 Gonzales, 9 Phillips, 10 Eyanson, 11 Godbout (6 of top 11!) 17 Cespedes, 23 Jo Garcia, 24 Taylor, 36 Tygart, 38 White, 40 Ingrassia, 43 Nunez, 49 Jackson, 50 Martin, 51 Neely, 59 G Rodriguez, 60 Finley (18 of top 60!) 14. de Leon got the highest bonus in the 2022 IFA signing period. F Encarnacion was second at $1.1M and Jo Garcia 3rd at $850K. Swings and misses happen. I think we've done pretty well with IFA signings over the past few years, but he was a big miss.
  15. It does matter in some cases. How did Newcomb not only make the 26, but begin the season in the rotation? Chase Anderson, Raimel Tapia, Phillips Valdez...
  16. Can't find anything on the Thaiss decision. I guess with Delay, Gasper and Siegler in the system, it's no biggie,
  17. Vs LHPs: .727 Monasterio (.837 in 2025) .643 IKF (.536 in 2025)
  18. Is this the framework for the line-up? 1. L Anthony LF 2. R Story SS 3. L Duran DH 4. R Contreras 1B 5. L Abreu RF 6. R Durbin 3B 7. L Mayer 2B/ R Monasterio 2B 8. R Narvaez C 9. R Rafaela CF
  19. I think Monasterio wins the slot. Still no word on Thaiss, despite today being the deadline.
  20. Bello might be our #4. I wonder who catches Oviedo. Likely, Narvaez catches 4 of 5 starters.
  21. Today is the upward mobility choice day for Thaiss. Montasario vs Eaton for #13?
  22. It's a bummer that Sandoval & Crawford were supposed to be back by the end of last year, and now May might be the earliest return point. With the loss of Refsnyder, not having Romy v LHPs hurts, but we did add some RHBs: Contreras, Durbin, Monasterio & IKF. I think we look pretty good as the season is about to begin.
  23. MLB.com's injury report: Sandoval: Mid April to early May (Left UCL repair) Crawford: April to early May (Right wrist subsheath tear) Casas: May, at the earliest (Ruptured left patellar tendon) Romy: Will miss significant time at start of season. (Left shoulder) Houck: Late '26 or early '27 (Torn ulnar collateral ligament in right elbow/ flexor pronator strain) While these are impactful injuries, the Houck one was known and the others are not to major role players.
