  1. Password was maybe second.
  2. 1. Duran CF 2. Gasper DH 3. Abreu RF 4. Contreras 1B 5. Yoshida LF 6. Story SS (still) 7. Mayer 2B 8. Wong C 9. Durbin 3B
  3. I'm not sure where you are getting that train of logic from. Not a single poster is even hinting at the idea that the GM can never be blamed. Also, I doubt Schwarber & Bregman (and no Suarez, Contreras and Gray) keeps us out of last place, so nice try. Maybe even those 2 plus 1-2 of the 3 we got wouldn't have been enough.
  4. And having Bregman and or Alonso would not make them better, this year.
  5. It's fair to point out that while Brez's choices have not done poorly- Suarez, Contreras and Gray, we still suck, other people's choices look worse, so far. There were plenty of players I wanted signed- some doing okay or well- and some sucking. It's not high-fiving, but laying blame on others, while our ideas sucked, too just seems a bit lame, to me.
  6. Indeed, but at least this is a better combo. Some are still complaining about us not getting some players that are off to bad starts- like it wouldn't have helped anyway, right?
  7. Nobody else even shows signs of becoming one.
  8. OBP is not the "talk" anywhere, but yes, the Sox actions show it is no longer "the thing." 5 are at .300 or lower. The Rays have Mullins with a .195 OBP, but the rest of their top 13 players are all over .314! They have 5 top guys at .339+. The Yanks have 2 guys at .280 and .281 and the rest are over .300. TOR has 3 guys between .269 and .292 and 6 over .314. 5 are over .329. BAL comes kinda close to the Sox: .233 Mayo .258 Henderson .259 Jackson and their #10 guy is at .280. They have 5 guys over .331.
  9. Except maybe be sellers: Gray & Chapman. Maybe Duran, Whitlock and other shorter term guys, if they have value in July.
  10. In hindsight: Contreras + BLowe> Alonso + Bregman, and the money would be way less.
  11. LOL. Last year was the best time to trade Story (or over this past winter,) but we'd have had to pay a large chunk of his remaining contract- not quite as much of a percentage as Yoshida, but a lot.
  12. I'm still wondering why the focus on OBP went out of style.
  13. I think they expected Contreras and Abreu to be top 3 bats.
  14. We shoulda traded Story like we did Nomar.
  15. According to MLB.com.... Crochet has begun to throw off the mound. Suarez should start May 14th, Anthony has not even begun "baseball activities," yet. Coulombe "hopes to return" on May 17th. Romy has been playing catch and "hopes to start swinging on May 15th." Sandoval is "playing catch to 90 ft." Crawford is "playing catch" to 90 ft & "will increase volume of throws." Oviedo will consult with doctor soon (expected return: Late June?) Casas will visit a doctor soon "to gauge any progress" made. Houck: Return: Late '26/early '27
  16. He was much better than before and played a full season. He was not "great" His defense fell off a cliff.
  17. Yup. I do think even they will admit they fell short of their offense additions goal. They probably exceeded their goal on SP'er additions and figured the "excess) (yeah right) could be used to bolster the pen. They did take a pretty big swing (Suarez, Contreras & Gray) and those guys have not done poorly, but the end result is that our offense DID need another big bat. In hindsight, we probably needed two more big bats on top of Contreras. We also needed more pitching, despite what looked like decent SP'er depth, last winter.
  18. soxprospects.com... Osvaldo Berrios, Sadbiel Delzine, and Juanyerlin Duran combined to pitch a no-hitter on a memorable day in the FCL
  19. That's the major piece. When you see how close we are to the #5 team, one could also say, if Durbin & Mayer were hitting just .725, IKF at .625 and Chapman, Whitlock & Weissert were closer to their 2025 numbers, we could be tied for the last playoff slot (and still suck.)
  20. I think the players the Sox locked up were.are decent players, and the money given was not major. It was an attempt to keep some decent to good players beyond their control years with the chance that maybe one or two did real well, and we'd save some. None of these deals have kept us from doing what we needed to do to get much better. Although Bello has sucked, this year, and KC is back on the farm, these guys make peanuts and are not the reason we suck.
  21. I will say, we seem to do better in games we go into with lesser hopes.
