  1. We were actually outhit and still scored more runs. We even stayed under the over/under on 12 Ks. We drew 5 BBs. Whitlock & Chapman back to form.
  2. Early splits: (6+ PAs) v R 1.300 Wong 1.213 Abreu .753 Contreras .694 Anthony .682 Yoshida .606 Duran .551 Rafaela .500 Monasterio .494 Mayer .485 Narvaez .440 Story .422 Durbin v L 1.300 Yoshida 1.214 Contreras 1.111 Abreu .889 Anthony .522 Duran .000 Story & Durbin It's way too soon to make definitive judgments, but some of these guys have been trending one way or the other for a while.
  3. Agreed, and do away with stupid challenge systems. Just have robo calls 100%. Why slow things down?
  4. Making sense is difficult for you, I see.
  5. Team Records 6-2 Woo (2nd in East Division) 1-1 POR 0-3 GRE 2-1 SAL FCL begins in early May
  6. Is Bastardo beginning with WOO?
  7. I'm not predicting, projecting or even suggesting we will make the playoffs. I merely pointed out we are 3.5 games behind with 152 to go. Somehow, your twisted brain reads that and infers 3.5 is my favorite number. I won't wait for a "yes" or a "no." Those two words might be too big for you to contemplate their meanings. My answer is "no." We are not out of it, but I do agree that we need to see some changes for us to come back. Of course, it's harder to pass 9 teams than 1 or 2, but they all have 152 games to go, too. Some other teams projected to make the playoffs by many: 4-7 SEA 4-6 DET 4-6 TOR How's this for a prediction? The Sox will pass the 6-5 Angels, this year. Agreed? (Cue "crickets" or some diversionary tangent reply.)
  8. Duran up second, tonight: 1. Anthony DH (Mr. Noodle Arm) 2. Duran LF (.581) 3. Contreras 1B .850 4. Abreu RF 1.190 5. Story SS .345 6. Mayer 2B .640 7. Rafaela CF .612 8. Wong C 1.300 (Catching Crochet... hmmmm...) 9. IKF 3B .200
  9. I'm not sure I even know how to find the answer to this. I do know teams have overcome 3.5 games behind many times. Of course, the way we are playing gives us no indication we will come back, but with 152 games left, a lot can happen. I do remember the Sox being 9 games ahead of the Rays going into September 2011, and blew it. I think CLE came back from 15 GB, once. They had less than 152 games to do it.
  10. I think we all feel like this, so I don't get the whole "you can't handle the truth" thing. I haven't been arguing we will make the payoffs. I haven't disagreed with anything. When someone says we are toast, you seem to criticize them for already giving up, so I asked if you have given up, and you go off on some tangent about me not being able to handle the truth. We are the worst team in baseball after 10 games. I mentioned we are just 3-4 games behind being okay and a playoff contender, by the numbers. That's not the same as saying I think we will make the playoffs, or we are playing well enough to still have a shot. That's not even close to my position. My position is that we have sucked. We have played worse than my expectations, but we are not out of it, yet. I'm not sure why you cant say yes or no to simple sentence, but it's been your MO all along.
  11. Huh? I agree with all of this, but you wont say if you have given up, yet. That is a truth as well. Do you predict we miss the playoffs? Try a simple yes or no and stop with the straddling both lanes, so you can later claim you were right, no matter what happens.
  12. You can't give a straight answer. If they are "predictable" then give us your prediction.
  13. I haven't been to Fenway for many years, but I do see the Sox play here in HOU and try to see them in other away games, when I can. I want to see them play at PITT, but I'm not sure I can be there, this AUG.
  14. I thought I read Duran and Crawford, but AZ wanted Tolle or Early and not Kutter, but I cant find anything, now.
  15. Why is he not with WOO?
  16. I heard it was Duran and Tolle or Early for KMarte. To keep our better offensive players, I wonder who might be needed, if we subbed out Rafaela? Maybe more, maybe less or maybe about the same. I think I'd give Rafaela, Tolle and Phiilips for KMarte or Neto. I'd probably give Rafaela, Phillips & Eyanson for an extended Hoerner.
  17. We may never know what it might have taken to get Neto or KMarte or even Paredes or Hoerner, and if we insisted on Rafaela over Duran or Abreu, maybe the second and third pieces would have been too good to part with. I'm not saying it would have been easy. Rafaela plus Tolle and another decent prospect might have been too high a return. I still probably would have done it.
  18. Mullins has stuck around 22-23, but when you factor in that the rankings lost 7 players to trades above him (4 Perales, 6 Garcia, 8 Clarke, 10 Fajardo, 12 Sandlin, 18 Drohan and 20 Travieso) and saw bigger drops by Bleis and Cespedes, who were above Mullins for most of 2025, his drop from 22 to 24 is pretty significant. The guy is 26 and still in AA, so I guess it shouldn't be surprising, but he keeps putting up very nice numbers.
  19. We can fix the defense part easily.
  20. Overall, I felt the improvement of the rotation would outweigh the lack of a big boost on offense, but I really felt like we had enough money and trade resources to do both. I actually liked the Durbin trade, but would have been happier had we traded an OF'er and gotten KMarte, Neto or Hoerner (with or without Durbin or IKF.) If this meant no Gray or Oviedo or Durbin, fine. If it meant trading my favorite player, Ceddanne, in order to not hurt the offense, fine. I think we left a hole in the line-up. It didn't have to be Alonso. I'm fine with Contreras, instead. He's much cheaper, better on defense, and may hit as well as Alonso, anyway- or close enough. Schwarber would have meant dumping Masa, and in a sense, we'd be paying Schwarber plus most of Masa for a DH upgrade. I liked adding KMarte or Neto much more. Paredes would have been okay, too.
