  1. Happy Independence Day!
  2. Washington should just change their name to foreskins, so we can still call them the skins.
  3. "Lakers" (short for mistake on the lake) I like "Rockers" best.
  4. As expected. Sale put on 60 day list.
  5. The Sox announced their 60 man roster that was actually only 47. (Can they add more later? You'd think they'd add 13 more, in case they want to make a trade.) The Red Sox’s initial 47-player pool consists of… Right-handed pitchers Matt Barnes Ryan Brasier Colten Brewer Austin Brice Nathan Eovaldi Heath Hembree Robinson Leyer Chris Mazza Collin McHugh Mike Shawaryn Domingo Tapia Phillips Valdez Marcus Walden Ryan Weber Brandon Workman Left-handed pitchers Matt Hall Kyle Hart Darwinzon Hernandez Brian Johnson Josh Osich Martin Perez Eduardo Rodriguez Jeffrey Springs Josh Taylor Catchers Jett Bandy Juan Centeno Kevin Plawecki Christian Vazquez Connor Wong Infielders Jonathan Arauz Xander Bogaerts C.J. Chatham Michael Chavis Bobby Dalbec Rafael Devers Marco Hernandez Tzu-Wei Lin Mitch Moreland Yairo Munoz Jose Peraza Outfielders John Andreoli Andrew Benintendi Jackie Bradley Jr. J.D. Martinez Kevin Pillar Cesar Puello Alex Verdugo
  6. My guess is we win less games, this season, than ever before. Going out on a limb, here. (LOL)
  7. I'm at the point where I'm fed up with all the nonsense. I could careless about the 2020 MLB season.
  8. I'm a huge Sox fan and love baseball, but at this point, I am not really all that enthusiastic about having a short season, this year.
  9. This is very true, but the amazing thing about it is that the others are pretty bad.
  10. You need to post more often.
  11. This belongs on the "What Song Are You Listening To" thread.
  12. I'm scratching my head. I don't pretend to be an expert, but it seems like most experts had this guy going much lower in the draft...maybe even in the 3rd or 4th round.
  13. The player who caused me to switch from being a Brewer fan to a Sox fan, Tommy Harper, faced a lot of racism while with the Sox. tommy-harper-still-haunted-time-with-red-sox tommy-harper-says-yawkey-philanthropy-doesn-outweigh-racial-harm
  14. I'd say the last 3-4 guys on this list may not belong on it. As for AGon, I expected a little better, but he did not do bad at all. His role in the whole chickengate episode was never clearly defined, and I'm not trying to label him as a cancer, but I have to say I was so happy we dumped CC, I wasn't upset we lost AGon and his salary, too. (Then, there was Beckett.)
  15. You think anyone lower on my list deserves to be above him? I'm wondering if some below him even belong on this sort of list.
  16. Crawford cost us more and when you adjust for inflation, it was significantly more money and two more years. To me, Crawford was worse, but getting the Dodger to take him off our hands lessened the blow enough to make the Pablo signing worse in the overall outlook, The other redeeming factor was that having to give up AGon to be able to dump CC ended up being a godsend in itself. AGon declined pretty quickly, despite 3 decent (but still subpar for him) seasons in LA. When I look at our worst signings, I don't count the trades that happened afterwards. Here is my rankings of our worst 20 major signings (I may have missed someone): 1. Crawford 2. Sandoval 3. Castillo 4. Renteria 5. Price 6. HRam 7. Lugo 8. Avery 9. Dice-K 10. J Clark 11. Matt Young 12. S Drew (the second signing) 13. Offerman 14. JT Snow 15. A Dawson 16. B Jenks 17. M Clement 18. Lackey 19. JD Drew 20. AGon/Smoltz/Penny
  17. I hated the Crawford signing from day one. I called him a "glorified platoon player" whose contract would "drag us down for many years." He had a .697 OPS vs LHPs before we signed him. Plus, his.817 OPS vs RHPs was not all that great to begin with. (FYI, before coming to Boston, Pablito had a .708 OPS vs LHPs and .850 vs RHPs.)
  18. My guess is, not much.

  20. Not sure who was worse.
  21. I would not argue Kareem is the GOAT. I never have. I can see the argument for Bill Russell- winning championships and rebounding like a maniac. I can see the argument for Wilt- nobody score like him and dominated offensively while also rebounding like a maniac. He even had over 6 assists/game in two seasons. I can see an argument for the Big O. He averaged a triple double for his first 6 seasons combined with 30+ pts! I can see the argument for Jordan & LeBron as physical specimens, great numbers and plenty of rings. I think Kareem could be included in the debate, but to me it's between the 5 I listed above. I've kind of talked myself out of the Russel as #1 position. If Wilt could have shot free throws, he'd be a shoe-in. Here's my rankings for today: 1. Wilt 2. Big O 3. Jordan 4. Russell 5. LeBron 6. Kareem To me, choosing #7 is harder than choosing #1.
  22. I think it would be a big mistake to dismantle minor league baseball. It's the backbone to many smaller communities and sparks wide-spread interest in the sport.
  23. I was lucky to see Kareem play back when I lived in Milwaukee. He was Lew Alcindor, then, and he brought the city a championship. He revolutionized the center position. His hook shot was undefendable. He ran the court very well, for a 7 footer. He defended very well, rebounded, and gave his teams what they needed. I'm not usually one to reward players for longevity, but Kareem was great for a long, long time and a very big plus post-prime. 3 of the top 7 win shares seasons is second only to Wilt's 4 of top 8. Top 3 is about the highest I could say he is.
  24. Top Win Share Seasons All Time: Wilt 4 in top 8 (6 in top 15) Kareem 3 of the top 7 Mikan (3 in top 12) Jordan (9th place was his best and 4 in top 20) LeBron (17th was his best and 2 in top 20) Oscar Robertson (13th was his best and only top 20) (Only David Robinson at #18 placed in the top 20)
