  1. My choices for the best 2 NFL players over the last 50 years are: Lawrence Taylor & Joe Montana.
  2. Here's an idea for a 62 game season (starting late July after 2 weeks of "summer training"): 4 Home and 4 Away vs own division (32 games). 3 Home vs 5 teams and 3 Away vs 5 teams -other 2 divisions (30 games). Top 8 teams from each league make the playoffs. All rounds are 7 games. Make the playoffs have much more games and teams. 1st round: 16 teams- possible 56 games. 2nd round: 8 teams- possible 28 games. ALC/NLC: 4 teams- possible 14 games. WS: 2 teams- possible 7 games (consider 9 game series, here.) If mid July is not quite the time to start, how about a shorter season starting in August? 3H & 3A vs own div (24 games) 3H vs 5 teams (15) 3A vs 5 teams (15) 54 game season.
  3. One could argue Pujols's last few years have lowered him enough to not be on the roster. 1B OPS leaders since 1995: 1.113 McGwire .970 Thome .960 Bagwell .953 Helton .949 Thomas .941 Votto .927 Pujols DH/1B .970 Edgar Martinez .931 Ortiz If you go by OPS only, not that I'm saying this is best, the best line-up might be: 1. Bonds RF 2. Trout CF 3. Ramirez DH 4. McGwire 1B 5. Walker LF 6. Cabrera 3B 7. ARod SS 8. Kent 2B 9. Piazza C Subs for consideration (listed by best OPS): C: Stanley/Posada/Lopez/Mauer 1B: E Martinez/Thome/Bagwell/Helton/Votto 2B: Cano/Alomar/Altuve/Utley/Biggio 3B: (ARod) Jones/Arenado/Donaldson SS: Nomar/Tulo/HRam/Larkin/Jeter (yuk!) OF: Belle/Berkman/Sheffield/Vlad SP: Pedro, Maddux, Johnson, Clemens, Verlander, Kershaw/Sale/deGrom/Scherzer RP: Rivera, Wagner, Hoffman, Uehara, Kimbrel, Chapman
  4. Kansas just called off school for the school year. Expect others to follow suit. Here in Texas, our district is looking into online lessons.
  5. Like Trumps kids are now?
  6. Start the season in August. Have 2 game series with all 14 other in league teams home and away. (56 game season) Seed teams by record- 8 teams per league. 5 game series round 1 then 7 the rest of the way.
  7. No way Utley, IRod, Jones and Suzuki make my team.
  8. The Yankees have clearly figured out some things on the development side... Yes, HGH and more...
  9. It wasn't worded that way. Your point about track & field athletes is a good one.
  10. I said he has "super-human skills" and mind. He is not a super human athlete. Others throw with more velocity, more accuracy and/or with more "touch." Yes, he puts it all together. What he is best at is rising to the occasion. He has some tremendous skills, some of which are physical. If we are talking about the best sports figures in the last 50 years, I would not argue with his name being on the list. I took the question as being the best physical super-human athletes. Maybe I'm wrong, but in that context, Brady does not belong.
  11. I don't think the question was who are the best sports players. It was about being "super-human athletes." Brady probably has a "super-human" football mind and skill, but not really the physical skill I think the question implied.
  12. It hasn't bottomed out yet. Good idea, though.
  13. If I have to stay inside everyday, and there's no sports to watch, I'll be super bummed out. Buy stock in Netflix.
  14. At this point, everything is about C-19. Stay safe, my friends.
  15. There is a thread for the Coronavirus. This is not it.
  16. WHIP Leaders (5+ IP): 0.60 Brice & Brasier 0.63 Eovaldi 0.67 Weber 0.72 Brewer 1.00 Taylor 1.18 ERod 1.29 Johnson 1.50 Springs & Tapia 1.67 Hart 1.80 Perez 2.05 Houck
  17. Spring Training Sox OPS 19+ ABs 1.141 JBJ 1.126 Plawecki .964 Castillo .954 Lin .905 Ockimey .881 Lucroy .878 Pillar .863 Martinez .836 Devers .824 Beni .792 Duran .775 Dalbec .721 Wilson .683 Chavis .678 de la Guerra .632 Andreoli .624 Arauz .556 Longhi .533 Peraza .262 Marco 10-18 ABs 1.362 Wong 1.200 Moreland .912 Witte .563 Vazquez .369 Joseph .349 Chatham .220 Bogey
  18. Fine. I prefaced my post with "all healthy."
  19. Look how much time Moreland has been hurt. I guess we could wait until he gets hurt, then call him up. Fine with me. I just posted what I thought were our best line-ups.
  20. Dalbec can also play 3B, when Devers rests, and it should be just a matter of days before Moreland is on the IL. I'm also thinking Ockimey might be a good option as a weak side platoon. He's killed lefties for 3 years in the minors.
  21. March Madness may be played in empty arenas.
  22. Not really, but trading for one partial salary-dump type is an option.
  23. Not really true. Nothing is "learned" over small sample sizes. No doubt, it didn't work well in 2019, but here are Beni's career splits (note PAs: 200+ PAs): .951 in 6 slot (99 PAs) .832 in 4 slot (94) .831 in 1 slot (332) .794 in 2 slot (960) .736 in 2 slot (204) .708 in 5 slot (236)
  24. Here are the career L-R splits: OPS vs RHPs/LHPs Puig .845/.762 (note: reverse splits) Sox vs RHPs .871 Devers (.996 in 2019) .861 Martinez .830 Benintendi .789 Moreland .787 Bogaerts (.950 in 2019) .783 Verdugo .774 Chavis (2019) .757 Lin (129 PAs) .750 JBJ .665 Peraza (platoon) .661 Vazquez (should get rest days vs RHPs only) .648 Plawecki vs LHPs .861 Martinez .845 Bogaerts (.910 in 2019) .785 Verdugo .771 Vazquez .750 Devers (.744 in 2019) .742 Chavis (Peraza vs LHPs at 2B) .738 Peraza .696 Benintendi (consider moving down in line-up vs LHPs) .671 Moreland (should not start vs RHPs) .669 JBJ (platoon?) .599 Plawecki (should only start vs RHPs) .502 Lin (32 PAs)
