  1. Told ya we shoulda traded Barnes (and anyone not under team control for 2021 and maybe some from 2022.)
  2. Just trade everybody not part of the 2021 or maybe even 2022 plan. Let's make us better long term. The short term is a massive cliff.
  3. Why can't we ever get players like this? Check This Out
  4. Trade him before he shows he's not worth anything. We are NOT winning this year.
  5. The short season doesn't change the fact that teenie tiny sample sizes are near useless.
  6. Trade Heath Bar Hembree before he gets hurt or implodes!
  7. The 7-inning doubleheader rule is now official. There’s no word yet on the proposed 30 man roster extension.
  8. Yes, I know. Look, I'm JBJ's biggest fan on this site and since day one. He's my favorite player. He gets hot, and he gets cold. The fact that he had 3 great hitting games to start the season does not mean we should totally revamp our thinking on who he is, or where he belongs in the line-up, and since he's gone cold, since, I'd say they were right not to move him up after 3 games. I'm all for trying some new things, and I wouldn't have slammed the manager for trying JBJ some where else, but IMO, I'd give him a couple weeks before thinking he's either hot or cold. (He's rarely in between.)
  9. How about 2014? $22M x 7 Tanaka $22M x 7 Ellsbury $17M x 5 McCann $16M x 1 Kuroda $15M x 3 Beltran I think the Yanks signed something like 4 out of the 13 FAs who declined the QOs, that year.
  10. I think he was saying we'd spend the $300M on 3 guys- not on a yearly rate equivalent. Maybe the 3 might sign for $100M/4 or $100M/5, and if you use the $370 number, it could be 3 guys at $123M/4 or $123M/5 each. Now, that might not be enough, either, and all 3 will likely want more than 4-5 year deals, especially in uncertain economic times.
  11. Yes, and Moreland and Beni, as well as JBJ have had some pretty bad numbers vs lefties over their career and recently. Moreland .671 vs LHPs career/.598 in 2019 JBJ .672 career/ .640 in 2020 Beni .693 career/ .796 last year
  12. Yes, that is funny. He's actually 8 for 20: 7 for his first 9 (.778) 1 for his last 11 (.091)
  13. Saying nothing will work is not saying we should give up. We should try anything that makes sense to help us win as many games as possible. My guess is, we will be one of the worst teams in MLB, this year. Our pitching sucks. BTW, JBJ is 1 for his last 9, so moving people around based on 3 good games is usually not my idea of a good move. I was for moving him up, last year, after he was hot for over 10 games. It's not like I'm never for moving hot players up.
  14. Better chance avoiding a major injury issue with 3 x $100M than 1 x $300M. If one gets hurt, we still have 2. If 2 get hurt, even one is better than none. If 3 get hurt, bye bye Bloom.
  15. That would end the "cliff." I might take another year, assuming most goes right, to get back to the top.
  16. Nice! I was beginning to wonder just how bad it might get.
  17. Agreed, but we also know we were never going to sign him, so we ended up losing 2+ months of Betts in a hopeless season with no fans at the games for a pretty good return, despite not getting any arms.
  18. Well, it was only for one year (actually 2 months) at much less money.
  19. I have to agree. LA had a surplus of young pitching. We should have demanded one, even if it meant no Verdugo.
  20. No. I am not currently for moving JBJ into the top 5 slots. This is a tiny sample size. I don't think anything will work. We are headed towards a sub .500 season, at best, and maybe the worst record in MLB. The cliff is here as predicted by some.
  21. 19-2, 21-5 and 14-3...losses.
  22. This is worse than I expected, and my expectations were for a sub .500 season.
  23. Because he won't get nearly as much as the Sox will pay him, especially in this economy. Pay some of his salary and trade him, or get some salary in return to offset some of his cost. JD could put some team over the top, this fall.
  24. His highest OPS slot, career, is 6th (.837), which is not really "bottom." He's batted less than 75 times in the 1-4 slots combined, so yes, SSS.
