  1. It was not clear that's what you meant, since you directly responded to a post about playoff eliminations. You also did not say, "season" or division playoff elimination games, either. Usually, when you want to expand the debate or take it in another direction, you try to make it clear.
  2. We really did not finish in last place too often from the 70's through the 90's. I think 1992 might have been the only time. It's funny, because I used to tell my fellow Sox fans, for decades, "I'll take 10 last place finishes for just one ring." Well, we may hit 10 last place finishes in my lifetime, but 4 rings is 4 times all I ever hoped for in all of my sports fandom. We might even reach 10 last place finsihes from the 70's on, before we reach 10 rings, but to me, the 4 outweighs them all, and my guess is we reach 5 before I'm in the ground.
  3. Ahh, yes, and then the Yanks knocked out CLE. So, 2 times. Countless. Funny.
  4. Um, you respond to a post about playoff elimination. It's on you to clarify a change in the debate.
  5. Countless? LOL. It's the same number: 3. 2003 1999 1998 You crack me up!
  6. This might actually work. With the 2024 buy-out, Barnes is owed slightly more than the Dodger portion of Price's deal. He does have 2 years to get his act straightened out, but the Dodgers would probably do this. The only gain we get is budget relief in 2023.
  7. All part of baseball's rich history.
  8. I think I have usually waited until the trade deadline, unless we are out of it before then.
  9. Recent numbers from our starters: 0.00 (11K: 4 BB( last 3 starts (13.0 IP) Hill 1.25 (15K: 8 BB) last 4 starts (21.2 IP) Wacha 2.28 (23K: 4 BB) last 4 starts (23.2 IP) Nate 2.97 (23K: 6 BB) last 4 starts (15.0 IP) Whitlock 3.00 (19K: 4 BB) last 3 starts (15.0 IP) Pivetta
  10. I shoulda put it in green.
  11. I'm not good at predicting what FAs will get, but I think Bogey gets $200M/6 or more.
  12. We gave them Betts to cancel out just half of Price's deal, we should get something thrown in, too.
  13. That was absurd, especially in light of what Baez and Story got. I think we have to view that contract as an outlier, but maybe Bogey is not viewing it that way.
  14. I'm not so sure. Maybe if Wacha and Hill remain out for longer than expected. Pivetta seems to be turning things around. I guess, maybe if he costs nothing, he might be the 5th starter until and if Paxton or Sale ever return, this season. Make Houck and Whitlock the 1-3 inning closers.
  15. Semien is older than Bogey (20.4 bWAR 2018-2022)
  16. It's hard to know. If you go by the Baez and Story comps, $200M/6 is too high, but I think he's got better name recognition and maybe the ability to generate more fan excitement than the two similar comps that signed, this winter. fWAR from 2018-2022 17.4 Bogey (18.7 bWAR) 16.6 Baez (18.8 bWAR) 15.8 Story (19.5 bWAR) 15.6 Semien 15.1 Correa (who is younger) 10.3 Seager (who is younger)
  17. Would he be given a starting slot, here?
  18. Like he paid Wacha and Hill less than Richards and Perez? Like Schreiber & Strahm less than Ottavino & Andriese?
  19. Hard Hit % 32 Devers 31 Bogey 30 JD 29 Cordero 28 Arroyo 27 JBJ 26 Kike 25 Vaz 24 Dugo & Plawecki 21 Dalbec 20 Story LD% 29 JD 26 Devers 25 Bogey 22 Vaz 19 JBJ 18 Cordero 17 Dalbec, Kike & Story 16 Dugo 13 Arroyo 8 Plawecki
  20. Mrs. Price, only.
  21. SP: Syndergaard, Nate, deGrom ($30.5M option), Wacha, Stripling, Bassitt, Manaea, Musgrove, Hill, Taillon, Clevinger, Eflin, K Gibson, Greinke, Wainwright RP: too many to list C: Willson Contreras/ Omar Narvaez 1B: (I think we go with Casas, if he's not traded) Abreu 2B: Kike, A frazier, B Drury LF: Beni, Brantley, Pederson CF: Kike, Kiermayer, Nimmo RF: Judge DH, JD, Brantley
  22. Assuming Wacha and Hill are doing well, and Kike turns things around, we might get some very nice pieces for them, too.
  23. He played for my Bucks for a few years- a bit past his prime but still did very well for us.
  24. R.I.P. Bob Lanier He was a great one.
