  1. I can't get to "wanting it to happen," just yet, but we would likely have a much better longer view, if we had a fire sale in July. I'd like to add that the money we currently spend on some players is more than what a replacement player of near value might cost- like JD and Vaz, and maybe even Kike. Add that to what we get from Price coming off the books, and I'm not sure why so many people seem to think we are going to sign 10 Marwin Gonzalezes to replace our 10 free agents-to-be. Granted, finding a good catcher for $7M will not be easy, but improving on Vaz should not be hard at less than $7M. We should be able to find a good DH for less than $22M.yr. It will be hard to replace Bogey (I assume with a 2Bman) and Eovaldi with the money they make now, but here's where was can add price's money. Replacing Wacha, Hill and Strahm with just $16M could be very difficult, but maybe not. We should also know a little more about Casas, Duran, Fitzy, Sanchez, Seabold, Winckowski and others on the farm, who may earn key roles by opening day 2023. Add some new prospects to the list, or some lower level guys who jump ahead, this year, and maybe we don't need to replace every single FA with another one. Then, there are trade opportunities. Our future need not be all doom & gloom.
  2. What percent chance does the current 6th place team have?
  3. Thanks. Makes sense.
  4. True, enough. (Shaw did well, last year, but Shaw II was a complete failure.) It's fair game to criticize Blooms biggest contracts, as they seem to be his worst, so far.
  5. I must have seen BOC about 5 times in my youth. Those guys could ROCK THE HOUSE!
  6. Where does the passionate realist fit into the spectrum?
  7. So, $210/6? I'm thinking $210/8 or maybe $200/7 tops.
  8. For 6 weeks, yes, but in theory, we'll have Bogey's $20M to spend at upgrading another position, and maybe our defense improves at SS, next year. Have you been watching Whitlock, Wacha, Hill, Schreiber and others that Bloom acquired play? Whay assume they will all play like Story's first 6 weeks in Boston after just about no ST'ing?
  9. The problem with this list of players is that all but Vaz, and I guess Kike, at the moment, are big losses, and finding decent catchers is very difficult. However, with Price's money added on, I can't see why we can't replace these guys with the same type of quality and expectations, and it's not like bringing them all back is going to guarantee a better team. At most, we might stay even, since these guys are aging. There is a chance we get some ML ready prospects for these guys, like we did with ERod, long ago. We could also see us stockpiling prospects at the deadline, then trading some in the winter to fill the gaps free agency can't do, or will be too expensive to do. I'm not happy even thinking about a fire sale, but the mini fire sale of 2020 did work out pretty well, and this fire sale could/should bring back more than Pivetta & Seabold. Again, I'm not giving up, but I can't seem to block the idea of a fire sale out of my head.
  10. Yes, find another Schreiber!
  11. Anyone know why Winckoski only went 2 innings? (1 H, 1 BB, 2 K, 0 ER) Ort blew the game in the ninth. Sound familiar? Refsnyder 2-3 w 2B. Sanchez 2-4. Portland with the Shut out. Bello 6 IP, 3 H, 0ER, 1 BB, 5K. Maybe time to promote him to AAA. Granberg 2-4 with a tater. Hamilton 1-3 w 2 BBs. Greenville lost, again. Rafaela 2-4. Yorke 1-4 w HR & BB, McDonough 1-2 w HR & 2BB. Salem gave the Sox farm a split on the night as Bastardo got the start: he responded by going 5 hitless innings, but he walked 4. 1 ER & 7 Ks. Paulino went 3-4 w BB, Jordan 2-3 w HR & 2BB & Lopez with a dinger.
  12. We can't add one plus one.
  13. I'm sitting here thinking, I'm glad we got a guy on base from the bottom of the order, so we can maybe reach the top of the order. Then, I remember, it's sub .500 Kike leading off.
  14. I did not notice I copied and pasted the source, and the edit button does not allow edits, at times.
  15. It's like the umps are forcing robo umps sooner rather than later.
  16. ...and the best the Sox can hope for is the Yanks think they are 1 or 2 players away from being the fave, trade away some of their future, then s*** the bed, again.
  17. Of course, this is just how I feel, now. I've said several times, I have not given up.
  18. Why? I'd rather try Winckowski or Seabold.
  19. Big game for Big Nate.
  20. No doubt, but I'd rather wait to have those kinds of talks. It's mid May.
  21. Like Urgency after the season started?
  22. Rally sons of Notre Dame Sing her glory and sound her fame Raise her Gold and Blue And cheer with voices true: Rah, rah, for Notre Dame We will fight in every game, Strong of heart and true to her name We will ne'er forget her And will cheer her ever Loyal to Notre Dame. Cheer, cheer for Old Notre Dame, Wake up the echoes cheering her name, Send a volley cheer on high, Shake down the thunder from the sky! What though the odds be great or small, Old Notre Dame will win over all, While her loyal sons are marching Onward to victory! source: https://www.lyricsondemand.com/miscellaneouslyrics/fightsongslyrics/notredamefightsonglyrics.html
  23. Game three looked very similar, but with a different result.
  24. I did not think only Domers knew the meaning.
  25. Exactly. I think the Sox know what they are doing on the farm.
