  1. It's so cool how we can all have our own personal science, now.
  2. If Crawford keeps doing well, and Sale comes back strong, going to TOR could be a complicated event. I wonder if they are considering lifting the restrictions, or at least requiring a recent negative test result to play.
  3. I'm not muddy, though. I guess when we are wrong, and admit it, Red has to keep bringing it up incessantly, but when he makes a mistake, you get no admission and a bunch of subject-changing. We white water raft, every summer. It's not as dangerous as it looks, but thanks for the well wishes.
  4. Bizzare choice, to say the least. When they called Bogey up to play 3B, at least they gave him 10 games in the minors.
  5. Might, yes. One day off has been pretty helpful for over a century.
  6. OPS Against Last 14 Days. The top of the pen list contains most of the names we've suggested DFA'ing: .221 Brasier 23 PAs Against .456 Schreiber 23 .602 Diekman 17 .739 Danish 22 .790 Houck 17 .796 Davis 29 .833 Strahm 21 .974 Sawamura 17 .984 Robles 21 SP'ers .571 Eovaldi 1 GS .585 Pivetta 3 .608 Wink 2 .731 Crawford 2 .849 Hill 3 .878 Wacha 3 Last 28 Days .471 Brasier .532 Schreiber .540 Nate .555 Nick .597 Sawamura .639 Wacha .646 Danish .648 Houck .695 Whitlock .731 Crawford .743 Davis .758 Wink .818 Hill .827 Diekman .984 Robles 1.005 Strahm 1.012 Barnes
  7. Lastwordism runs in my family.
  8. The last game of a series often sees Cora putting up line-ups like you are suggesting. I think it might make more sense to rest Bogey v a righty, but your configuration would not surprise me.
  9. Something I can certainly agree with. Maybe the return of Whitlock, Sale, Taylor and the first appearance in a Sox uniform by Paxton can help mitigate and slumping that may occur. I do think it's funny how one statement made to jacko concerning his statement that pitching does not slump has taken on such interest.
  10. Yes, you being "wrong" has meaning. The word "but" is a very important word in the English language that often has great influence on the meaning of a statement. Again you bring up something I said, instead of answering to the point b eing discussed, but that's your deflection mechanism. I get it. How's my "Bogey diagnosis" coming about? You seem obsessed with what I said, but it was never a diagnosis. It was a statement made about how I thought Bogey might be feeling about the signing of a superior defensive SS. I admitted I was basing my opinion on faulty information, but if me being wrong brings you so much joy, continue having at it. I'm thrilled to watch Story flashing his brilliant D at 2B. I'm sure Bogey is happy having him by his side on D. I don't think Story's ability to knock in way more runs than Bogey is bothering Bogey, nor is his superior D. Originally, I thought the Story signing was a sign that Bogey was all but gone by 2023. With the information that Story agreed to be the FT 2Bman coming after my statement, the situation seems different. I'm not ashamed to change my opinion based on new information to me. I'm happy to correct the rec ord-something you refuse to do on your statement that everyone gave Bloom a failing grade on the Betts trade. Cue: change of subject or "tuning out."
  11. If he could hit 21 HRs every 219 ABs at any level, the K's would be overlooked, IMO, but I doubt he can or would.
  12. An update on some of the Beni return package: Winckowski has his ERA down to 3.68 after 3 starts in the bigs. Cordero is clawing his was out of the Franchy Bashfest often found on this site (not undeserving.) Luis De La Rosa (19 years old) of the FCL Sox went four scoreless innings (2.65 ERA in career 71 IP in FRk and Rookie Leagues (ages 16-19.) Freddy Valdez torns 21 in December and has not shown much promise since the trade. Grant Gambrell (age 24) has yet to pitch, this year and struggles at GRE, last season.
  13. That does seem to be his ceiling.
  14. Sale gets one more start at FCL, and then it's expected he gets a start or two at AA or AAA, most likely Portland on June 30th. I wish I was in Maine by then, but it looks like a later arrival, this year for the wife and me. We plan to drive with our two pups and make several scenic stops along the way, as well as a white water rafting adventure in West Virginia.
  15. I heard Kike's rehab was set back due to some discomfort when trying to hit. I'm glad our other OF'ers have been doing well, by and large, but I'm not sure how long that can continue. Loving Duran's hot streak, and he has not looked awful on defense in CF, either, so far.
  16. I never said that, but these days, I'd say 50-50. I would not be upset, if we waived him and someone claimed him, but as of right now, and it changed from day-to-day, he's not #1 on the 26 or 40 man roster doghouse list.
  17. The word "But" has meaning. The fact that it is just one word doesn't change the fact that your statement had clear meaning. As usual, instead of addressing what you said or meant, you repeat old mistakes I made and admitted making over and over. BTW, I did not say Shmuck, so should I bring that up everytime for months and months? I'm Mr. Disdain not Mr. Shmuck. I don't expect an apology. I don't expect an actual answer to my point. I don't expect just one link saying the Betts trade was a failure, as you claimed. Not even a lame response.
  18. Among our IP leaders on the farm (40+), here are the leaders in OPS Against: .516 Seabold (49K:14 BB) .562 Winckowski (43:8) .564 Bello (99:27) .570 Murphy (83:23) .585 Walter (75:7) .652 Encarnacion (57:14) .674 Santos (54:13) .681 Drohan (81:25) .692 Uberstine (58:18) .697 Groome (62:29) .722 Gonzalez (57:29)
  19. These three guys are tearing up their leagues: Kavadas .283 12 45 in 184 ABs (.455 OBP and a nice SLG of .587, too.) Rafaela .324 13 48 in 250 ABs (.361 OBP & .616 SLG) Hickey .278 7 39 in 133 ABs (.437 OBP with 38 BBs and just 37 Ks/ .526 SLG) Honorable mentions to: Lugo .880 OPS Mayer .848 OPS Binelas .830 Northcut has 21 HRs, 8 2Bs and 21 singles (89 Ks in 219 ABs)
  20. You accuse us of reading into what you say what is not there- something you do all the time, I might add. If you don't see any negativity to this statement, then we both have very different views on the English language: Playoff hero he was, and if he gets hot like that again that’s great, but I just see him for what he has been, which was a utility player 4th OF/ 5th IF with the Dodgers, which is what I believe brought to Boston to be, but turned into a excellent full time CF. When you use the word "but" followed by I "just" see him for what he has been, which is a utility player, I'm sorry, but that is not taken as a compliment or even a neutral statement. You also added the "4th OF/5th IF" followed by he "he turned into an excellent full time CF", like he wasn't an excellent CF, before 2021. I'm fine with you not agreeing he had a fantastic defensive year in CF for the Sox in 2021 or disagreeing with me thinking it was the best defensive CF season, I've seen in a long time by a Sox CF'er, with props given the JBJ, as I've always given him. Here is what doesn't ring true, to me: I find it interesting you called Kike an excellent FT CF for the Sox, yet he only started 81 games in CF for us. He started 49 games at 2B & SS- kinda like a utility man, needed more in CF than anywhere else, in 2021. Newflash, the guy has been an excellent defensive CF for years, and could have been a FT one for years, too. He happens to be a plus 2B man and SS, too, and likely could have been an excellent FT middle infielder had some manager chose to use him that way. Saying, "If he gets hot again that would be great, but I see him for what he has been..." has meaning, unintended or not. Don't get upset when we take your words to have commonly understood meanings. Thanks for clarifying, though. I know how much you have disdain for being asked to do that.
  21. Easier said than done. Brasier has options.
  22. For some reason, I've always kinda liked Brasier, even through some rough times. He reminds me of an average Joe off the streets that made it to the big dance. He has some nice pitches, but he has certainly been very unreliable for quite some time, now, and has often been on the IL. I've been off his bandwagon, recently, but maybe running along side it. As we all know, RP'ers are up and down, both within a season and season to season, and maybe this will be the start of a prolonged upswing. We need all the upswings we can get from our pen.
  23. Woo with the shut out. Taylor pitched a hitless, scoreless, walkless, K-less first inning. Bello went the next 7, 5H, 0ER, 0BB 7K's Ort pitched a scoreless 9th 1H, 0 BB 2K Wong and JDavis had 3 hits- Wong w a 2B, Davis was a 2B short of a cycle. Granberg & Stewart with 2 hits, each, while Arroyo went 0-3 POR scored late to pull out a win 5-2. Groome let up 2 in 6 IP (3H, 2BB, 10K) Cottam had 2 hits, Reed & Castellanos each had a 2B. Koss 0-4 w 4Ks. Greenville was 2 hit (Binelas with 1.) Salem lost 8-7, despite A Bastardo going 4 scoreless. Mayer, Bonaci, Jordan & Kavadas all with 2 hits. (Kavadas a 2B & HR, Mayer & Jordan w 2Bs) Hickey went 1-4 w HR and BB and had a rare 2K night.
  24. Wacha v Skubal (Finally, we face a lefty.) One game at a time, guys.
