  1. We all are hoping Story become a story for a better reason. Maybe this is the game we look back on as the turning point. One game at a time,
  2. He was pretty far down the totem pole before tonight.
  3. The pen has done better than the starters almost equally, this year- game by game. Maybe they are over their rough patch. Now, let's hope the bats are over theirs!!!
  4. I'm not trying to start something, but someone ripped me to shreds for saying close to this same thing a while back about Story after a 3-4 game streak and a ball hit hard that was almost a HR off the high left-center field wall. I won't name names.
  5. Two non number two crooked numbers in the same game! Someone pinch me!
  6. The results are in: this was Thornburg's best game for the Sox.
  7. Not the same old Story, finally!
  8. Judge with a 3-run walk-off for the Yanks. Maybe we gain a game on the Jays?
  9. Will this go down in history as Thornburg's best game for the Sox?
  10. Yes, keep Schreiber for the 8th and give Houck the 9th.
  11. Yes, but we won't use him as such.
  12. Seabold making a case for not calling him up, anytime soon. 3 IP 6 H 5 ER 3 BB 3 K Walter finally had a bad night: 1.1 IP 7 H 7 ER 1 BB 3 K Wikelman had control issues: 3.1 IP 1 H 0 ER 4 BB 5 K
  13. Nice try. How's that for a crooked number?
  14. I think he's a leader, too. I also think he will want to play SS, at least a few more years. I doubt the Sox would assure him that AND offer him close to what he wants. Now, let's see what other teams offer him, this winter, and maybe he'll face a reality he did not expect, and a Sox offer might be competitive, but I doubt it. He wants to stay at SS, and I can't blame him. Chicks dig SSs. 2Bmen are pansies.
  15. Saying they want to be continually competitive is not the same as "all in," and look where "all in got us." Yes, a nice 3 year run and the best season any Red Sox fan has ever seen, but the after affects are still upon us. It's easy to just explain it away by expecting Henry to just keep throwing more and more money to stay "all in," but I don't think he wants to emulate the Dodgers, and he doesn't have to to keep making money and keep the fans perceiving we have a chance every year (except 2020, of course.)
  16. Who here thinks Seager was worth almost double Semien and more than double Story & Baez? (Of course, not per year, but still...)
  17. Better offensively, no doubt, but better than $140M/6 might not be $200M.
  18. Why do you assume paying another player what you offer Bogey will be half as good? Now, they may take Bogey's money and pay 2 guy's half his money, each, and together, they may not amount to crap, but every signing or extension is a gamble to differing extents, and we all will never agree on what each player is precisely worth. I'd have offered Bogey more than Story, but only if we still thought we could be in the ballpark to sign Devers, next year (and we should have been able to do that.) However, now that we have Story, I would not offer him $25M x 8, $26M x76 or $27M x 6. It's close, but I think Story was likely told, he'd be the SS in 2023. (Just my opinion.) I thought Betts was the face of the franchise, and in my biggest moment of weakness I suggested something like $400M/14 to keep him here, so I don't think I'm some heartless, will-nilly let 'em walk kinda fan. Now, most here know my bias towards having a great defensive SS and not thinking Bogey is one, so personally, Devers is the current face of the franchise, and who couldn't love that cheery baby face?
  19. Sounds fair, and in my mind, that is saying "bye, bye." (He won't agree to that, now.)
  20. Only Seager got more than $175M, this winter. (Other got more, last season.) $325M/10 Seager (I'm not sure anyone but the Rangers GM thought he was worth that) $175M/7 Semien $140M/6 Story $140M/6 Baez $105M/3 Correa (opt outs)
  21. I would guess that most BorA$$ clients do better than they would have with the majority of other agents. The guy does his homework. I'm not sure he turns off owners enough to not bargain for someone they want, because he's the agent.
  22. Sorry. I noticed this afterwards. My bad.
  23. Can one big blow out win be enough to light a fire under this offense?
