  1. No doubt. Like Duran, they should have traded him 1-2 years ago.
  2. Agreed. Keep IKF as Monasterio's late inning D replacement, assuming we are in close games.
  3. True. I also don't see Brez having that much more power than Bloom, just a bigger budget.
  4. Yes, Crochet was in a different class of extensions. He was to become a FA after 2026, and the Sox extended him before the 2025 season (2 years before FA.) The kids were all pre-arb. (4-5 years left.) Good thing we didn't extend Duran, Houck, Crawford and Casas, although I guess we tried with Casas.
  5. I never bought into that theory. Pay the guy and he signs. Our issue is NOT paying THE guy.
  6. IKF could get some time at 2B, with Mayer at SS FT. It might not be long before Durbin is benched. The best cherry-picked sample size I can find is .536 over his last 24 games. That's better than IKF's season numbers and he's really good on D, but still...
  7. It's time to see how Mayer looks at SS. Calling Arias up now would be too extreme, in my book.
  8. Yup, and not replacing his salary only made it worse. Then, other high-priced players left without decent replacements.
  9. Those are separate deals (May & Durbin,) but yes, ultimately we might be looking at Monasterio, Seigler and Jose Bello to reclaim any value.
  10. He's going to be a good hitter for a few more years. I don't see him as the next Pablito. His May numbers are nice, but it's just 65 PAs. Would you undo the trade, now?
  11. I have no idea. Maybe 2025 was a fluke. Maybe teams figured out how to get him out, and he has not or never will be able to adjust.
  12. Maybe 60-75%, but your point stands. IMO, it's better to not pay 75% and just hope he gets his act together- maybe as a 2-3 IP RP'er at $19M in '29. (He's no Whitlock, for sure.)
  13. We do invest- just not at the pre-2019 era level. We changed the way we invest and have swung and missed on most of our largest contracts from the Sale & Nate extension & signing up to the Crochet extension. (One could argue up to the Buehler signing.) We seem to be playing whack-a-mole on our high need areas. A "rotation of Crochet, Tolle & Early" would mean Bello & Bennett, too. With Crochet on the IL, we'd be in the same place as now but lamenting the fact that Brez neglected the rotation, and not the line-up. We need to spend way more to whack all the moles, and JH simply has not done it nor appears to be planning on doing it anytime soon. If we don't spend way more, we need to hit on almost all of our major expenditures, kinda like last winter (so far) and hope the farm lives up to it's rankings. I'd mention injuries, but the plan has to account for them. In theory, I agree. We should have gotten Suarez or Gray- not both, and used the money on a big bat. We may disagree on what a big bat is and how having one or two more improves others or not, but we whacked the SP mole real good and the big bat mole popped up it's ugly head and went unwhacked.
  14. MVP mentioned Monegro's 2027 ETA and his surgery, for one. Witherspoon ('27) might not be way off, but I'd say "late '28.) Maybe Azocar '28 is a bit of a push. Maybe "way off" was not a good choice of words.
  15. We might trade Gray and Chapman. If Duran or Story have any value, in July, maybe they go. Yoshida might just get DFA'd. Whitlock has two club options, but maybe he goes. Bello lost his trade value. I'm not sure he can gain any back by the end of July.
  16. Gray can opt out of the club option after this season. $30M with $5M buyout.
  17. I don't get how people can think this team is rotten to the core and then think we can trade for a couple stars and win a ring. If any trading will be done, the odds are we will be sellers not buyers.
  18. Agreed. Spoiled but we should expect better than this last 6 yrs.
  19. Probably nobody advocated for a KMarte trade than I did, but I'm not so sure he's going to be real good going forward. If we got those 3, we'd likely have no Gray & Suarez.
