  1. Agreed. I'm so glad he got off to a good start and didn't have to deal with fan rumblings.
  2. While we all felt it was Mayer as the most likely infielder to be platooned, maybe Durbin is making a case. .402 Durbin v R .472 Monasterio v R Perhaps a lefty bat is needed more, now. (Yes, SSS)
  3. No disagreement, here. Of course, they've had some good luck, too, but it seems like more bad than good, so far. It's not the major reason we are where we are.
  4. Yup, but the close games losses (6) vs close game wins (1) hint at some bad luck. You disagree?
  5. It's a close call. He and Durbin are both RHBs. That's nothing "wrong with him," but I think Cheng is a better fit and better on D than Monasterio.
  6. That's why I did not mention them. He's take Monasterio's slot on the bench or possibly platoon with Durbin.
  7. We will also have to look at Monasterio, Durbin & IKF's Memorial Day numbers.
  8. My Cheng expectation upon a call-up: .600 + Better defense than we have.
  9. Yes, that is a major plus for that choice. I am aware of the advantages and disadvantages. It's a close call, to me.
  10. Not even a little bit? 1 run wins: 1 2 run wins: 0 1 run losses: 3 2 run losses: 3 6 of 9 losses are by 1-2 runs. 1 of 5 wins is by 1-2 runs.
  11. Weird how MLB standings shows us as not having a record vs >.500. https://www.mlb.com/standings/
  12. I do worry about messing him up, but I'm not one to think this kind of call-up in dangerous to a young pitcher's growth.
  13. We have yet to play a team that is currently over .500. MIN will be the first. If we sweep them, we can keep it that way.
  14. He's not the same pitcher, but knowing our luck, tonight will be the game he begins his turn-around.
  15. Agreed, but we do have MLB samples on the guys he might replace.
  16. I'm not sure ow long we can keep pitching lesser guys, in hopes that one does well enough to bridge us to the next attempt.
  17. Ober was pretty good from '22 to '24: 1.03 WHIP was 4th best in MLB! 3.66 ERA (115 ERA+) 89 ERA- ranked 27th 3.74 FIP
  18. RBI Leaders: 12 Gasper 11 Romero 10 Castro (6 yesterday) 9 Sogard 8 KC
  19. Some interesting early farm numbers: Seth Martinez has let up 4 hits in 11.2 IP, but 3 are HRs! Jake Bennett has a .289 OPS Against- second only to Futrell's astonishing .171 line. Dylan Brown has a 0.00 ERA in 8.2 IP with 14 Ks (.301 OPSA) Arias has just 19 PAs but a 1.342 OPS. Salem has 3 guys over 1.000 (Opata, Salazar & Tucker) Cheng and Gasper are the other two over 1.000. They both lead the Sox farm in HRs with 3. Ward has a .500 OBP and 9 SBs in 12 tries. K leaders: Castro 17 and KC 16
  20. How about Devin Futrell's season line? 9 IP 1 Hit 0 ER 2 BB 10 Ks for the RidgeYaks of Salem (A-) He's 23 and still in A- ball, but he did pitch a little for GRE (A+) last season. My guess is he gets promoted, but GRE's rotation looks pretty stacked. Maybe Valera, Witherspoon or Eyanson gets bumped up to POR.
  21. That fits the Sox M. O.
  22. Not as a permanent solution. Yes, bring up the hot hand.
  23. While I agree, some of the guys we have in the pen, now are still working to perfect their primary pitch.
  24. "Touting?" I wouldn't call it that, but okay. Yes, I mentioned a couple players had a good game. Shoot me.
