  1. This was a cheap trade, and if it was Duran for IP, it's about no cost. No Duran and IKP would be cheaper than IP.
  2. Not on this one. IKF costs $6M and Paredes $9M. It wasn't Henry stopping this deal.
  3. 3 farm teams lost today, 2 by 1 run. Bennett did okay: 4.2IP 4H 1ER 1BB 3K. Sweet & Keller walked 8 batters in 3 IP, KC, Romero, Eaton & Sogard all had 2 hits. POR got drilled 13-8. Yup, Arias had 2 hits, including a dinger. His OPS is back up to 1.431. GRE is playing now. Patton pitched poorly for SAL. Heyman had a couple hits and Salazar & Jimenez homered.
  4. Rivera will be pitcher #18. We've yet to see Tolle, Crawford & Sandoval, as well as Bennett- the only pitchers left on the 40 not used, so far. Woo pitchers not on the 40: Gamboa, Coffey, Bastardo, Guerrero, Kahnle, Keller, Martinez, Song, Sweet, Webb, Sena, Olds (Uberstine & Sikkema on IL) POR hopefuls: Holobetz, Mullins, Paez, Cooper Adams & Wehunt/Rogers Pitchers on IL: 60 Day: Houck & Oviedo 15 Day: Gray, Crawford, Sandoval & Slaten
  5. Casas to 60 Day (no surprise.) Eduardo Rivera added to 40. Anderson demoted and Rivera added to 26.
  6. Sometimes friends can bring out the best of us: sometimes the worst.
  7. fWAR tells a different story. I'll bet you $1,000 IP doubles the fWAR of Durbin this season.
  8. I don't disagree. Almost everyone of our returning vets had underperformed, and tweaking an off season move or two would probably mean maybe 1-2 more wins. Even a major tweak like a Neto addition might not have helped much. Maybe it's easier to point to things we could have changed or done differently than to keep harping on the foundation just not being good enough. When compared to the returnees, Suarez, Contreras and Gray have done fine. Nobody expected great things from IKF, Oviedo & Durbin.
  9. Yup. Deflection as expected. Can't answer. I asked about the bat not defense, but you misunderstood, once again.
  10. You ridicule my use of OPS, so this is too funny.
  11. He's a "suspect," right now..
  12. He's a better bat than Durbin, Mayer and others. Even as he slumps.
  13. He was not my first choice. He seemed like the most attainable. That's the only reason. I do think he'll do better than he has recently. I'm not so sure about Durbin and Mayer.
  14. I went out of my way to state that Paredes would not be replacing Story.
  15. He's still doing way better than the guy you want batting first.
  16. So, that's your plan: play Duran everyday and bat him first. Got any other great ideas? It's nice to see you actually state a clear and specific idea. Somehow, if Duran ends up sucking, you'll still come back and claim you were right. Book it.
  17. Of course, he was a great unknown from even before day 1. He's still a better defender than Story. It's not defending his bat, whaich has sucked, to say it's still been better than Story's, Durbin's, IKF's and Monasterio's. Has it not? (Note: I answered your question. 100% guarantee you won't answer mine, but will deflect, instead.) OPS+ 73 Mayer (sucks, yes) 67 Monasterio (sucks more) 52 Story (atrocious) 38 Durbin (off the charts horrific) 34 IKF (less than half of Mayer's)
