You only have uo look back to today. He’s mentioned me thinking we’d win 87 games st least twice, like it’s a horrible thing. I admit I was wrong. I’ve admitted it many times, but he keeps bringing it up. Somehow he thinks the context he says it in is not deriding.

I wanted better pitchers than ERod after 21. I certainly liked him more than Richards and then Kluber. I’d have preferred Yamo, Monty, Gray and maybe Snell to ERod, this winter, but now that just Monty is left, I look back and can say I’d have taken ERod at what he got in todays market. It’s not hypocritical. By the way, did you or did you not say you stopped watching baseball because it was watered down and now change your excuse? Try answering just once in your life without diverting to do something I got wrong. Just once I. Had history of Talksox just answer the actual question.

I did think we might beat them but I never said we would. My pint was about the best way to passing someone is to play them. I added, if we can’t or do t beat them, then we don’t deserve to go.

The way the Sox are not even keeping players like Betts and Bogey, I’m pretty sure Burnes will bolt. He’s a damn good pitcher- an ace IMO, but we are not a team looking for a rental to win it all in 2024. Not even close. -
Graver to SEA for $24M/2. He might be more of a DH/ back up catcher type, but he’s a good hitter.

Context is not something Red even wants to know about. Like us lie about me wanting us to play NYY and TOR, because I felt we’d “destroy them.” My point was that playing the teams you needed to pass was good, since you do not have to rely on the other teams to lose to someone else. We win, we’re in. It was not a prediction, except in Red’s head.

There is still a chance Breslow can build a team that can contend, but the FA aspect is drying up fast. Trades involve giving up near equal value to fill a need. They are useful, but often involve robbing Peter to pay Paul. I’m all for making a big prospect trade, or even two, if the players we get are under team control for several years. Those players cost a lot in return. Non QO free agents cot nothing but budget space. At this point, most of us seem to have much lower expectations. I’m sure many feel that even signing Monty and Stroman are not enough, so what is left but trades? IMO, if the truthful aim is to be competitive, we should not trade top prospects unless… We are fairly certain we will compete in24 We get a player(s) who will still be here I. 3 or more years. If it’s not both, we should just punt.

I expected nothing this winter and have gotten just that. I’ve made countless suggestions on what I felt we should do, but again it’s not a prediction. In short, spend up to the tax line or even second tax line. Sign Monty, ERod or Gray (I realise all are gambles and slight overpays) Sign a second SP or trade for one. Pitchers like Stroman, Imanaga or Luzardo. (Again, not predicting all will succeed) Trade for a 2Bman like Polanco, Kim or Drury. Add a bid RH bat (2B or RF) IMO, adding 3-4 quality players is better than 5-7 decent players or stabs in the dark.

I meant 2 of the last 4 years. 4th or 5th in 3 of 4. I’ll take the Sox from 2019-2022 over the Rangers.

Texas finished 4th in ‘22 5th in ‘20 and ‘21, so 3 of the last 4 years.

A few teams have passed us in spending, and we spent the money on mostly the wrong guys. It is hard to watch poor pitching and defense, but there were somethings that were entertaining to me. The pen looked good. Watching Casas mature before our eyes was fun. I still like watching Devers hit, but there seems to be more bad than good. I do think our extended future looks better, but going 5 years with only one decent playoff run is not much fun. We’ve sucked in the past. To me, more than this, but it’s the lies and the sham that upsets me the most. Being honest would have helped. If they truly believes what they were saying, it’s even worse, though. It exposes their incompetence

I never claimed I was right. In fact, I admit I am wrong when I am, unlike you. I was way wrong on 2023. Again, it’s easy to never be wrong when you never take a specific position. I’m not sure what this has to do with the point I made but deflection is your expertise.

To me, this looks like the only real hope for 2024: trade a top 3 prospect and maybe some others for a young pitcher with 3 or more years of control. I’ve suggested several I feel are worth the dice roll, but as was pointed out by the master pouter, none ever come true, so it’s useless being specific about some possible good moves. Keep it simple: trade suspects for great young pitchers and call it a day. -
Giolito has not been good, except for 4 months out of his last 12 and was good for 3 of his previous 6 months. He may bd better than Kluber looked after 2022, but this is the same old same old crap.
