  1. Our pattern has not changed, except maybe Giolito offers more hope than: M Perez Richards Kluber (Wacha & Hill did OK)
  2. I would not add Teel. They would probably not want Yorke. Other BTV additions to my initial offer that bring it close to even would be: Rafaela Schreiber Winckowski. Or just offer: Mayer Houck or Crawford Mata Or Mayer Duran for Luzardo and someone else, maybe Berti (can play 2B & OF) [/b]
  3. Me, too. Mayer, Mata and Perales
  4. So, as it stands, now, I see it like this: SP: Sale, Bello, Giolito, Pivetta, Crawford RP: Jansen, Martin, Winckowski, Schreiber Houck, Whitlock, Slaten, Mata (out of options) C: Wong/ McGuire 1B: Casas 2B: Reyes/ EValdez SS: Story 3B: Devers LF: Duran/ Refsnyder CF: Rafaela/ Abreu RF: O’Neill DH: Yoshida
  5. The king troll returns!
  6. He’s only got 2 years, but I’d kick the tires. I’d rather trade for Luzardo. Why not keep the prospects and just sign Monty or Snell? Stroman or Imanaga would improve the team but would still be a punt in my eyes.
  7. Well, at least this guy is known to take the ball every 5 days, no matter what. IMO, the best part of this signing is that it keeps one of these guys in the pen: Houck Whitlock Crawford
  8. This should not be on the realistic thread!
  9. One source has the Sox under the tax line by $37M, for whatever that is worth. In theory, that’s likely enough for… Monty or Snell and ______
  10. And $1M in a performance bonus.
  11. MLBTR sometimes hits the target, well. On the Giolito signing... top reclamation target in the rotation class
  12. Why, because Bogey’s deal looks better?
  13. That’s how I see it. The rest are or were 3rd or 4th tier, including Giolito.
  14. That’s how I feel. I hope to hell I’m wrong. I’m just sick of signing guys based on the hope the regain what they once had. Hey, we broke the$10M barrier for a SP! Not the guy I’d do it on. I would not be too upset, if he ends up as the second best SP we acquire, this winter, but I fear he the best we will add.
  15. So, even the great DD can only do one thing at a time?
  16. I think there is value in showing players loyalty. At times, it hurts the team more that that value, IMO.
  17. It was a horrible choice. I do t think calling the choice stupid is overkill. I would not call Cora stupid over a few choice we view as stupid.
  18. Good point, but our rotation still has 2 holes in it.
  19. I mentioned trying Arroyo, last spring. Another example is when Cora kept Bogey at SS after acquiring Story.
  20. It’s pretty shocking that we have not added an outside free agent SP at more than $10M since Price. We’ve extended or re-signed Porcello, Sale and Nate, but nobody knew. We’ve seen so few good SPers come up from our farm in those 8 years: you’d expect more.
  21. To the fan, they don’t see much difference between extending Sale as re-signing Nate.
  22. I’d love to improve our D at two positions with one signing. Chapman would also help replace tge lost bats- Turner and Duvall. I might even predict better 2024 numbers from Chapman and O’Neill on O, too. I just can’t see repeating the pattern of spending everywhere but the rotation as being a good plan. Now, sign a decent SPer and trade for another, and signing Chapman makes a ton of sense. While it pushes Yoshida to LF, it might free up an OFer to be part of that trade for a SPer.
  23. I guess it’s more of a psychological factor for fans. We seem to view FA signings as adding a new player. The Nate signing just kept the status quo and seemed the same as an extension, except the money part you pointed out is significant.
  24. It was a huge mistake. I do think Cora sticks with some players for too long. It worked for Dalbec and Kike in 2021. It did not with Dugo v lefties, Kluber, Richards, Perez and others .
  25. I think there are two major reasons for the GM flip: 1) Bloom was the scape goat. 2) The hope Brez can make better FA signings than Bloom, especially the $10M or more ones. It’s hard to imagine Brez doing worse than this… Story Yoshida Jansen Kluber Richards Kike II (Barnes extension was just under $10M a year) (The 5 largest Bloom signings)
