  1. Yariel Rodriguez to TOR for five-years at $32M.
  2. Maybe we can tali him out of it.
  3. or Kansas City
  4. Coming from Law, this is encouraging. The lack of quality SP'ers on the farm has been well documented and discussed, here. No doubt, we have to fix this problem- like yesterday! He made a good point about trades, because even if we did fix the problem yesterday, results won't be realized for several more years. The change in drafting and development practices is highly important, but won't fix things for 3-6 years. We've talked about our past successes with trading for aces and other quality SP'ers, going back to Pedro, and that does seem like a doable idea, especially when we have such a strong farm to trade from. Trades for mid rotation starters can help, too. Waiver wire, Rule 5 and other ways to add pitchers can strike gold, from time to time, but should never be something to rely on. As bad as we have done, since DD's trades for Sale and Nate, here are some pitchers we added in other ways than by draft or IFA signing: Whitlock (Rule 5) Pivetta (and Seabold for Workman & Hembree) Winckowski, Gambrell & de la Rosa for Beni I Campbell for Urias Fitts, Weissert & Judice for Dugo Schreiber (Waivers) Bernardino (Waivers) Slaten (Rule 5) Kelly (MiLFA) Many minor league additions
  5. I totally agree, and on the one year deals, we might be able to trade one or two for something useful, if the season craters.
  6. I feel the same. I will be surprised if we make a major move.
  7. I'm not thinking that. You just assumed it. I would expect Martin to close, and maybe Houck take the major set-up role, if Whitlock is not up to the task. Would adding Houck and Crawford to the pen help enormously, or not? That's all I said and meant.
  8. You misspelled sham.
  9. Sham https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0230762/
  10. ...and those who repeat it, are doomed to make history.
  11. This is what hurts the most. I may be totally wrong in thinking we are two solid SP'ers away from being a decent top competitor, but certainly, we'd be strong playoff contenders adding 2. Losing Jansen would hurt, but moving two guys from the rotation- like Houck and Crawford would help the pen, enormously. If the team was 5-6 players away, it might make more sense, but I don't think we are.
  12. We have a winner!
  13. I would add more to this list: A catcher to make room for Teel, most likely McGuire, who loses team control after 2025. Refsnyder, especially if we add another OF'er, or Rafaela earns a slot on the 26. Also, Mata may be traded before opening day (or DFA'd,) as he is out of options. E Valdez, since we do not need a platoon DH. Slaten is Rule 5 and may be traded or "traded for," so we can demote im to AAA. Yoshida and or Story, depending on how their value changes and how well Mayer is doing. Walter and or Murphy. Criswell and or Kelly. Trade or DFA: Jacques Dalbec DHam Heineman R Gonzalez
  14. Maybe just "more" insane.
  15. The Wolf on Lansdowne Street
  16. NETFLIX will run a documentary on the Red Sox in 2025. https://www.insidehook.com/sports/boston-red-sox-netflix-series
  17. MLBTR reported teams can do it on their first day or ST, so some teams, today- others when they report.
  18. This has been a very uneventful winter. The biggest story was the CBO change and not any player addition or trade. Trading Sale might normally be a huge headline, but he lost his luster, years ago. Our most noteworthy winter deals? Giolito Grissom for Sale O'Neill Fitts, Weissert & Judice for Dugo I Campbell for Urias Slaten (Rule 5) and lost Drogan & others to Rule 5 (Criswell, Heineman, R Gonzalez) Sad.
  19. The Red Sox can move a 40 man roster player to the 60 day IL, and create an opening, but we don't seem to have anyone that fits that role.
  20. Singing to the limited choir.
  21. No argument, here. I don't count the Gio signing as major, although it has the 2nd or 3rd highest AAV of any signing since DD. (Story is more. Yoshi is close, and it depends if Gio gets the $1M buyout for '25.))
  22. I got enough wrong to far outweigh that one. It may turn into a very good trade. I liked the McGuire trade, and not just for the Diekman dump part, but McGuire has not been very impressive after 2022.
  23. Agreed, but his problem was not the lack of moves. He made so many bad one, it forced too many moves to replace . (More like churning the bottom 15-18.) He made a good chunk of mid-level moves, too, but not enough. Many were not bad or pretty good (Pivetta, the Diekman dump, signing Renfroe, Hill, Wacha, Strahm, Kike I, Martin & maybe a few I missed.) He only made a few big moves, and the budget may have been partially to blame, for that. Plus, he blew most of these.
  24. So, he's more valuable than Refsnyder, right now. However, we are weaker vs LHPs, so I just don't see him as a fit for us, right now. And, I'm probably higher on his bat than many here.
  25. He did a lot. The roster turned over and over. We saw dozens of players on the 26 over 4 years. The problem was he didn't do enough good things. Most moves were minor ones, and that was partially due to a low budget, especially for the first 2 years.
