  1. That was a future Papi-replacement moment.
  2. Holy s***! I almost forgot just HOW MUCH they hate each otherLol! Should be fun watching them literally beat the crap out of one another. The first barely inside pitch thrown will get a warning at the very least.
  3. Wow. EE gonna get a lot of money from us in the off-season. The slow-mo's don't give that shot enough justice, better in real time.
  4. Is it just me?... Or do TBS announcers sound like such posers. Glad they got the crowd mics up though.
  5. I happen to catch his 2nd Pro game a little bit over a year ago when he was playing on Lowell. My dad & I were watching Sox on tv together this past week and he mentioned Beni looked like a teenager. Told my dad he wasn't that far wrong. Lol
  6. Cubs were resting their key players periodically, but it didn't appear as blatant because they clinched soo early. It wasn't even that clear some of the consequences of a win or a loss even until mid-game last night. I'd blame Kimbrel for the loss of HFA if I wanted to assign any blame, but I really don't. Playing the beat-up Guardians (SP-ing wise) in the first round should be a nice warm-up. There should be no excuses if Sox lose that one.
  7. Agreed. If I had a choice I'd pick Cle.
  8. I've been thinking the same thing lately.
  9. I'm more inclinded to excercise his option after last night. But good news seems to always come with bad news: I think we need a new Closer.
  10. Sox needed to go on a streak like this and they finally did. I'll take it as a good sign that while every game counts a little more as the play-offs approach, they seem like they're in full gear. Slasher, what team would you rather face in the first round?
  11. Ugh.. I thought it was a hoax at first. So sad.
  12. Out of all the contenders, I think the Sox are the most battle-tested. But I'd sure feel more comfortable if we had Wright back... not sure if thats possible now. ?
  13. I don't believe they will stand pat either. With the already post-season bound young core on this team, I think the FO will try to keep striking while the iron is hot while they can (even if that means another pricey long term contract to EE). Why waste the opportunity(s). At least thats how I think the FO & ownership will look at it.
  14. I'm sure Moncada knows to keep running with two outs just in case a hit falls in, so he basically forgot how many outs there were. It's a common mistake, one that Mookie made last season ( did JBJ make that mistake last year too? I know someone else did). One that Trout made just this past week btw. Not any of these proved consequential. Moncada's speed is worth the risk having him able to PR on our post season roster IMHO. What I would like to see: Sox reach their magic number early with these last 8 games and play guys like Moncada and Hernandez as much as they can.
  15. I tend to agree. It's not just about him, if available he might be a top 3 SP out of this upcoming class of free agents. It makes him definite trade bait. So it's trade bait or cut bait... I'm still on the fence.
  16. Good info here nice post. I think Betts will be high on this list for a very long time w/ XB climbing his way up it sooner than later as time goes on. Still think the best XB has yet to be seen. Curious what a full season of Beni might bring us as well. Lots of reasons to be optimistic but Papi retiring still hurts. We might have to sign EE to help keep the status quo.
  17. Funny thing is that his production from July ( hitting .298/.350/839 ) 28 H, 18 R, 6 2B, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 7 BB isn't that much off from his August numbers ( hitting .198/.274/.597 ) 21 H, 16 R, 4 2B, 5 HR, 13 RBI, 9 BB
  18. How dare thy mock! "All the friend who will have belonged to the party, For the rude in letters put death and plundered: Property up for sale at fixed price the great one annihilated. Never were the Roman people so wronged" It's pretty obvious from above Nostradamus was right about the 2016 NY Yankees.
  19. Career norms? Nah, I highly doubt he'll steal 30 bases in a season again. Seriously though, his career norms are what i'm banking on. And it's not even all about Hanley either. It's the offense around him just as much as anything else. Plus I like his health going forward. He's been long removed from trying to steal 70 bases a year and you'd really have to concentrate pretty hard to get hurt being a full time DH. Unless we see some serious drop in bat speed, I'm not worried.
  20. So, don't PR Koji I take it?
  21. In 2012 he had a .759 ops and was just 8 shy of 100 rbi (between Mia & LAD). I guess what I'm getting at is.... think Ortiz's "bad" years and he still drove in close to 100 runs. In '08 Papi played 109 games and still drove in 89 runs. I don't care how how Hanley does it. He can sacrifice fly his way to 100 rbi or single us to death with men in scoring position. Punch my ticket for the roller coaster Moon, it don't look THAT scarey.
  22. I don't see them trading HanRam at all. 1) He's been his healthiest since the move to 1B. 2) If he becomes our FT DH after this season, I don't see him getting hurt all that much or at all. 3) His attitude has been great from the beginning and let's not forget that HE's the one that wanted to come to Boston. 4) A rebuilding team looking to trade a TOTR SP (like Sale) won't be looking for a high priced veteran in a deal. They'll want guys like JBJ. Not sure what we can get in return trading HanRam, although the Yanks did rake on trading 2 months of Beltan... but situations are different mid-season compared to the off-season. You're right that he's had a fluctuating career at the plate, but it might not matter if he hits .881 or 1.040. To me, as our DH middle of the order bat, just give me the RBI. This season, Hanley has already tied his career high in rbi (106, 2009, age 25, .954) w/ an .881 OPS. The Sox, as presently constructed, get on base and I don't see that changing any time soon. I think he's a perfect fit for our team going forward.
  23. Just simply "Hanley being Manny" again... wait.. I mean ...
  24. I definitely think it's more of a marketing problem than anything else. Then it's about the longer development time it takes for young athletes to break through results-wise.
  25. You're right, I think red is a hue or two off on the logo.
