I've never seen Moncada play yet personally. Last summer I witnessed Benintendi go 2-4 (2nd Pro game vs Tri-City) first Pro HR (2-run shot) & first Pro SB. From what video I've seen and from what I've read of Moncada, he's some kind of man-beast and his physical stature makes everyone else seem unimpressive, w/ talent galore. Though Benny is by all accounts definitely the more polished player at this point. There are reasons why Benny got promoted to AA a month before Moncada did. Just sayin'. Can you imagine a MLB lineup of Betts (RF), Bogaerts (SS), Bradley (CF), Benintendi (LF), and Moncada (we'll say 3B), plus whoever (2) out of Vazquez/Swihart/Leon at catcher. Filled in by veterans like Pedroia, Hanley, Hill ... for 2017? Does anyone share in my excitement of this possibility?

When you add up all the smaller sample sizes you get a larger sample size. It's where larger sample sizes come from ... a bunch of smaller sample sizes.

If we can forgive that 2-21 shellacking to LAA, which thankfully & mercifully only counts as one loss, we 7-2 on the month. It's been a while since I've been this excited about watching the All-Star Game. Hope everyone enjoys it. Cheers!

There's also a very good chance he'd be pitching for some other team right now w/out that extension and we'd be needing 3 SPs not 2.

Like you mentioned last season Moon, his extension didn't kick-in until this year. Last season wasn't pretty that's for sure, but they were an extremely flawed team in most aspects and weren't going anywhere, regardless how well or poorly Porcello did. I'm ecstatic that he's made the adjustments needed and let's not forget he's still in his prime. The extension doesn't look so bad now and it's one that I was on the fence about. I liked it in theory. Hope the results keep coming.

1) I'm not even advocating bringing either of them up necessarily. We're all talking hypotheticals here, atleast I thought we were. So excited might be a bit strong of word here. 2) What is your point? They can't promote Benintendi unless they promote Moncada first? Are you saying Moncada should start playing a position other than 2B? If so, I agree with you, but that might not happen for a while yet.

I see what you guys are saying, but this move might very well have temporarily saved our season. And if Kimbrel makes it back in time our BP is stacked for a post-season run.

If Moncada was an OFer like Benny, sure I'd probably agree with you on all that in principle. They're both doing extremely well, but our hole on the major league club is in LF and I'd rather go with the guy who's actually an OFer. Wouldn't you?

An extremely recent known commodity, but yeah he could be my top choice as well. I'm more wary of what we'd have to give up at the moment. Given his age, injury history, and the fact that he'll be a rental... It still needs to be a smart move.

I read this too this morning. Is this the first time Pomeranz & Boston have been linked to a trade rumor this year? We've (on here) been mentioning him for two months now . I think the Hill & Ziegler trades are pretty solid and very under the radar. For that SP trade we all think should happen, that might come down to the 11th hour.

With a 63% GB rate. Look, he's not going to strike alot of guys out, but with our defense behind him, I think he'll do fine. He's not perfect, he might make us sweat a little, but then again so does Kimbrel... and Koji. I've had him on my fantasy team all season w/ no complaints. Even the best Closers blow saves now and again. Again, I'm very happy w/ this move.

We're on the same page here evidently. I revert to what the Red Sox Org. feels what's right. We rushed Betts and it worked out. We rushed JBJ a bunch of times and that had much more gnashing of teeth, but in the long run worked out thank our lucky stars. I'm not too sure what to expect if we brought Benny up, but one has to prepare for a few slumps here and there and not let those slumps define him.

I can see him as a Sept Call-up. I think that would take any undue pressure off him and may help him in the long run to see what adjustments he may need to make.

I'm curious to see how Ziegler does for us and how he likes it in Boston. A reasonable 2 yr contract + a 3rd yr Team option if all goes well enough. I'm getting ahead of myself here though. I sure hope Kimbrel's MRI brings us good news.

Hellickson's ALE #'s are better than what he's done in the NL. That might not mean much though. I think he could keep us in games. I don't want to see a huge over-pay for Hellickson though. He's a #4 on a good day. It just so happens that a #4 SP could be the best we can get. Southpaw, how long until we give ERod another shot ya' think?

But Can he pitch? Seems like they're just trying to take care of what they can as far as smaller needs for the moment. I couldn't see the whole link so my stomach got some butterflies thinking it was some big trade. Lol You tricked me.

Well, looks like Matt Harvey will be a Met for a little while longer. If Wheeler showed promise coming back, I thought for sure Harvey would've been trade bait. It's ok though, he was my least favorite of that staff.
