  1. I'd still rather take my chances w/ ERod than Santana.
  2. I think that was also the 4th time SanFran saw Pomeranz this season, not to mention they're a good hitting team. He cruised the first time through the order, but then sat for a long time while the offense scored runs. My hope is while looking at the game tape he notices that there's a pretty good defense behind him. With that kind of a lead, just throw strikes man.
  3. This has been one crazy game. Hanley! What can I say?
  4. If you're a "Bettin' Man": http://www.oddsshark.com/mlb/san-francisco-giants-boston-red-sox-betting-july-20-2016-722943 Some ok info on there.
  5. Had a funny feeling Ziegler wld be closing sooner or later, however it happened. Time to call-up Kelly?
  6. That's fine if you were. My point in asking you that was that you need zero convincing.
  7. Thanks for this link If I haven't already said thanks for posting it. It's an interesting read and I'm trying to read between the lines on some things. 1) Does Bannister's recent promotion have anything to do w/ being correct in his assesment of Pomeranz's recent success? He said he kept tabs on him going back to the beginning of the season. 2) Are there parallels to be drawn w/ what he said of Pomeranz ( 6'-6" Lefty) to Owens ( 6'-6" Lefty)?
  8. Well, my question was directed at the posters that hated giving up Espinoza for Pomeranz by itself or had serious issues with it it any way. You were on board w/ it from the get go, or am I mistaken?
  9. For purely discussion, shits & giggle purposes... Lets take the last 3 trades for Hill, Ziegler, & Pomeranz and pretend it was all in the same deal w/ just one other team ( including what we gave up of course). Does it all look better in this light? I'm just curious what posters think...
  10. Might be a good time to think about extending some guys... Betts,XB, JBJ. If things work out w/ Pomeranz.
  11. Yeah, that number takes you directly to Dominican Red Bull. I hear it tastes good, but it doesn't make you hit 525 Home Runs.
  12. This is true. Our backs were against the wall, no doubt. I still would've waited a bit more for some teams to drop off. DD obviously didn't like the idea of waiting any longer. I think the posters on here that dislike this trade have good reason not to. They're not being contrarian for it's own sake, they're being genuinely honest about the situation. We gave up the 4th best pitching prospect in baseball for ... a #3 Starter ( and I really hope Pomeranz is at least a #3 ) to compete now. A much needed #3. I hope it's enough. I hope it works out. But even if it does, it's still a huge over pay. The only thing that will comfort me is if this helps get another ring. An argument can be made that by not going for it (to the best our our abilities, given this SP market), does a dis-service not only to Papi, but to the young core we have right now in Betts, XB, JBJ, Wright, etc. So, as a fan, I need think in that perspective.
  13. Ha! I'll admit, my natural defensive thinking was a little like... " f_ck this guy! Holding out, He can eat a ... Oh, he signed? Awesome!"
  14. Alas, The Groome drama is over. Glad to have him on board.
  15. Goddamnit. As soon as I think DD gets it after some really nice trades... I like Pomeranz, but not this much. What's done is done though. I won't bitch forever. Price Wright Porcello Pomeranz ERod Killer P's??? Too much to ask? Probably
  16. I wish that worked for us.
  17. Fair enough Hugh. Thanks for the example. I guess I could see if he had that deal with the team w/ the 13th pick. Then, I cld kinda get all the fuss.
  18. I'm not even sure a Rich Hill extension (if traded for) wld be the smartest of ideas. With a career injury manifest, & the fact that he's 36... @Nick, what do you have in mind? I'd raally hate to over pay to trade for him by a lot, and I'd hate to over pay by a lot to keep him here. I'm all for something reasonable w/ Hill though, don't get me wrong.
  19. A lot can happen before the deadline. I see plenty of teams 7 games out and in 3rd place & just barely over .500. A team like that is hoping for a win streak, what happens if its a bad losing streak they get instead during that 2 weeks plus of games before the deadline? I still look to the 11th hour for something to happen though.
  20. I'm just realizing this, Groome had $5M deal if he fell to #24... And I know he fell significantly to us at #12. But did he, or anyone else for that matter, really think he'd have fell THAT far? I really hope he dumps his agent.
  21. I didn't realize that either. Stanky is after next season. Time flies i guess. You bring up a good point, I think if Ben stayed on he would've no doubt learned a lot from DD. I also think DD has realized to a certain extent the philosophy Ben was on, the talent he was sitting on at the lower levels, and why that train of thought is now paying huge dividends. I give a lot of respect to DD for coming in and not firing everyone on the spot and bringing in all new people who have no idea where the organization was at. I think he gets it, for the most part.

  23. I don't get the feeling he's Ace material. I don't think Pomeranz is either, but may cost less prospects to get than Teheran. Does anyone here really like Teheran? IMHO, I'm nervous we'd have to give up way too much for him and many say he's a #3 tops that's pitching over his head right now.
  24. http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2016/07/12/why-some-red-sox-prospects-have-better-chance-to-be-traded-this-month-than-others/
  25. I've a feeling Ziegler will get his share of save opportunities in the coming weeks.
