  1. Good post hugh
  2. I feel like we traded Shaw and them signed Shaw for 1yr@$5.5M. Edit: Only trading Shaw helped us net Sale.
  3. Exactly right Slash.
  4. I also think he's a HOFer (not everyone does) so I think that makes up for my hate. If you asked him, I'm sure he'd prefer it that way as well.
  5. It just seems a bit silly though, to not reset over a measly $4M+
  6. Schilling... developed into an *******, does he count? We drafted him, no?
  7. Maybe we do trade Buch after all?
  8. by how much?
  9. 2020 & 2021 http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2016-payroll-salaries.shtml
  10. I wouldn't call the next 3 years short term necessarily. 2020 was going to be a big decision year anyhow if you look at the number of players hypothetically coming off the books.
  11. True. I think the Sox FO still viewed Moncada as farther off than some ppl might think despite his call-up.
  12. Yeeeaaah, we're probly keeping Buchholz then and besides an additional RPer I think we're done.
  13. That's funny. Not too accurate, but definitely funny.
  14. I give credit to both BC and DD and I think I'm justified in doing so. I don't subscribe to the whole absolutist thing.
  15. Sox have a legitimate but limited window. Now's the time to strike.
  16. Well, if I may...the Guardians had 2 of their best SPs out when Sox faced them in the playoffs and we still got our asses handed to us. And I don't imagine the Guardians being any easier to beat next season. This Sale trade had to be done. Maybe not to win the east, but to have a fighting chance in the post season. Even though from Boston's perspective, trading Swihart instead of Moncada would've made more sense, but that's nothing we could control, and it's nothing I'll complain about.
  17. Does that take into account the salaries that come off the payroll for other players that would be due to hit FA in future years?
  18. That's right. That always confuses me, they go by the entire contract..
  19. Not sure I'd do that now. What if we could unload Buch and his $13.5? Could we structurally work out a deal, backload it in a way for a Bautista or EE that still gets us under cap next season? Is that even a possibility or am I just being retarded?
  20. THis is fantastic! It's what we needed to do.
  21. WAY WAY WAY More sense than the Kimbrel deal. Undoubtedly more sense. A plethora of more sense. lol
  22. I like the trade, but one has to be concerned with the underlying flawed pattern of giving up a lot and not getting anything back but the one piece, trade after trade after trade. It may turn into a problem if it hasn't already. Being banned from signing International players ( on some BS ) doesn't help either. I do like this trade though. Hope he's healthy.
  23. I agree, thats also a huge part of it. We're not even getting a far-away low-level prospect that has 5-10 percent chance of making the show... back to help replenish the farm in any way whatsoever.
  24. I don't hate it given the environment we're in. I guess I just hate this environment itself, of the last few years of having the pieces to get a bonafide top SP via trade and getting fleeced over RP.
  25. say bye bye to Dubon and Shaw
