  1. Surprising and disgusting, all at the same time. Anyone that was supporting Price's actions obviously can't take being criticized for poor performance. It's disappointing to hear Pedroia probably feels that way.
  2. Same here. A dominant Price would be good for the team's chances and encourage him to opt out, at the end of next year. He can go be a miserable bastid somewhere else.
  3. The Guardians pitching hasn't been that great, but their offense has been good. I doubt that the Sox pitching staff is going to face many Guardians pitchers.
  4. Yup, and we all know how well he handles criticism about his postseason performances. I'd probably be more confident in Price, if he was a little more consistent. He's already demonstrated this year that he's capable of throwing a stinker. Even though Sale has never pitched in the postseason, it's a safe bet that we'll get a quality start from him, even if he's not at his best. If Price is off, you'll get a game like his last one against the Angels, or his game against the Yankees. I think a team like Houston will light him up.
  5. I think it was Lou Merloni.
  6. Nobody "predetermined" it, Moon. Neither Price, Porcello or Pomeranz inspire any confidence in me, as far as the playoffs go. If you think this rotation will mow down the Guardians, unlike last year, good for you.
  7. Yup, the chicken & beer thing made the Sox look stupid. This latest thing makes them look nasty.
  8. Blank page or clean slate.
  9. He was supposedly one of the starting pitchers, along with Becket and Lackey that were partying in the clubhouse during games. He won one game in Sept.
  10. s***** team attitude, manager with no control. 2011 is starting early this year. I sometimes wonder if that the real reason Lester didn't get a contract.
  11. And it's not just "some reporter". Price skwered Evan Drellich a few weeks ago and no one batted an eye. Eckersley is a color guy who's justtrying to do his job. He's also very popular with the fan base. That makes it a story. Price is obviously no brain surgeon, but that was a dumb move. Nothing fixes a bad situation like winning. If they don't start doing that soon, this could get really ugly for the entire team.
  12. After Devers runs his stats to 0-fer and strands a couple more runners in scoring position today, they'll send him back down.
  13. So, you believe Price is going to bail out the rest of the staff in the playoffs? Good luck with that.
  14. It's the only sample available. I'll believe Price is a good playoff pitcher when he actually does something in the playoffs, not before.
  15. Yeah, he's been money in the post season. If not for Sale, I think we get a repeat of last year.
  16. Evidently, I think clubhouse atitude shows up on the field more than you do. That's fine. I hardly think Fister or Johnson will be around when Price opts out, so I'm not sure what replacing Price with either of those two has to do with the conversation. Looking forward to watching Price again in a playoff game? I'm not.
  17. That is a telling stat. Good luck to Devers, he's going to need it.
  18. Nope, and it's too bad. I really liked this group, at the start of the season. Now, not so much... I've got no great love for the boston media and I don't blame players for getting POed if they hear there was a hatchet job written about them in the Globe or Herald. But, going after the TV color guy, because he did his job is way out of line. Farrel is an idiot for not doing more to stop it.
  19. Pity. I don't see this team being able to get past the first round of the playoffs, with Price in the clubhouse.
  20. Devers can have the #1 spot in OPS but it's not going to do much if the rest of the team still can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag. My only concern with Devers is that fan expectations may be running a bit high. Can't wait to see hin play, in any case.
  21. Are they going to charter a separate plane for the TV and radio guys? That doesn't make much sense to me. Eck usually isn't on the travel plane because he rarely does away games to begin with. If some of the Red Sox players are applauding Price for ambushing Eck, because he was doing his job, then I've got real concerns about how the clubhouse is being led. The team is missing Ortiz in more ways than on the field. It's a shame Pedroia doesn't seem to have what it takes to be a team leader. I really hope Price has a great year. Then, he opts out.
  22. Perhaps the Sox aren't convinced that Rodiguez can stay healthy and they need some additional insurance. He's got a chronic knee issue that doesn't look like it's going away any time soon.
  23. True, no one has been able to provide much in the way of excitement, besides Sale, every fifth game.
