    If they didn't fire Farell when the Sox were a .500 team and in 4th place, back in May, they're not going to fire him now. I'd be surprised if he's not back next year.

    Yup, we've seen how mediocre this offense is against good pitching (and bad pitching, for that matter). Cleveland has the best pitching numbers in the AL. If the Sox have to play the Tribe in the first round, it's going to be a repeat of last year. They may have a slim chance against Houston.

    I think the age of the player has a lot to do with it. I wouldn't want to give a 10 yr deaL to a player who's 26-30 yrs old. 23 or 24 is probably a safer bet.

    Agreed. And has the left field wall suddenly become a minor nuisance, instead of a major park feature that takes to time to play well off of?

    It could be argued that they peaked early last season. They certainly didn't show up in the ALDS.
