  1. Well, they fooled me, they scored 3.
  2. Who the heck can spell "enigma" off the top of their head, besides you?
  3. It's an unlikable team, on the whole. I don't think I'd bat an eye if they traded everyone, with the exception of Sale, Betts, Devers, and Vazquez. Do whatever it takes to improve the offense.
  4. That's where game logs come in handy. There are 2 or three games stretches where Mookie iwas getting multiple XBH, followed by fairly long stretches of 0-1 hits per game. How that compares to other hitters takes more time, but it does give you an idea of how often he goes on a tear, then quiets down. Maybe he's just another streaky hitter. Seems like we've got a lot of them.
  5. "Weird" describes them perfectly.
  6. Consistency (or lack thereof) has been an issue all season long and we do have a lot of young hitters.. They've got a respectable run differential because of good pitching and their habit of scoring 8+ runs about once every 6 or 8 games and less than 5 the rest of the time. Let's hope the consistency improves next season.
  7. Yup, Bogearts, Moreland and Hanley are definitely hurting the team. And it's the lack of offense against mediocre pitching that's frustrating to watch. If they can't hit average pitching, they don't have a prayer against playoff starters, which is why I'm not real cofident in the team's ability to go very far. But, maybe there is something to the "hitting is contagious" stuff. If the offense can get going the next couple of weeks their chances in the playoff will improve.
  8. I'm with you on Severino, Gray, not so much.
  9. I would expect to see that on a team that lacks fire and desire, which was my point.
  10. Yeah, I've fallen into the trap, where I think "this game is their breakout game!" If the season continues like it has previously, they'll score 2 runs tonight.
  11. Every player in the majors dogs it down to first at least one a season. I'm talking about making a habit of it. And adhering to the philosophy of taking a first pitch is not the same as mailing in an at bat.
  12. Unfortunately, you're probably right.
  13. Exactly. Bad things happen when players try to play above their capabilities.
  14. Stupid play is an entirely different subject than thinking you are seeing a lack of desire. Seeing half the team not runnnig out grounders? I don't. Seeing half the team standing in the batters box with the bat on their shoulders? I don't. If anything, the team is probably guilty of taking things a little too seriously and not just going out and playing.
  15. No one has ever said otherwise.
  16. I think this perceived "lack of fire..." is just a result of the type of players that are on the team. I agree that Sale has it. Pedroia has it, when he's able to play. The rest simply don't have the intense personalities that you see in guys like Ortiz. I think is also why there were questions about a lack of leadership, earlier this year. They certainly play like they have it, just look at their record.
  17. That's not going to happen.
  18. So, everyone's opinion here is valid, except for a select few? Yeah, we've got it alright...
  19. I like it.
  20. Sounds about right.
  21. Bastids. Get a few of those "2017 AL East Champions" pennants, come Oct.
  22. Some folks seem to be missing the fact that DD said these things are common and are usually handled between GMs. Even Manfred said he'd wished the thew Sox and Yankees had handled it between themselves. Smacks of desperation for the Yankees to go public with this. I'd suggest that Yankee fans look at the trajectory of the Indy Colts, since they decided to be the NFL snitches. Good thing Manfred seems to have more brains than Roger Goodell.
  23. #4 pages? Man, that's a lot of whining...
  24. Yup, that's a bit much.
