  1. I don't know whether Mookie made it from the players' ballots or if he was a commissioner's choice, but I must say that in terms of NL outfielders, the fans, players, and commissioner's office got it right. That's not something I can usually say. Mookie deserves to be a reserve player based on performance, and I'm sure his name/face recognition didn't hurt his cause.
  2. Along with that Chevy Aveo, you can also afford to buy a bigger house for the kids. And put in a swimming pool. They will be very happy.
  3. Which may or may not be a good thing. For the Sox, the trade also freed up money that might have been spent on Betts to sign other players for the next 10 years. Verdugo has been struggling a bit of late. Regardless, I have ZERO regrets about this trade. I'm with Nick on this one.
  4. They tend to win and lose games in streaks. Win 5 in a row, lose 6 in a row, win 11 in a row, lose 7 in a row. I'm not sure if that means anything, but I find it interesting.
  5. !!! If this is all we have to complain about, I'm good.
  6. Yes, but my point is that this criticism is mostly coming in hindsight. There were question marks about the rotation and Torres' defense. I don't remember any concerns about the Yankee's offense or about their bullpen. Even with any concerns, I don't remember anyone projecting the Yankees to be hovering just above .500. Almost everyone had them winning the division, and most people had them winning the division by a large margin.
  7. I don't remember anyone predicting the Yankees to be anywhere near this position during the offseason. A lot of people, in hindsight, are now pointing out the Yankees' flaws, but I don't think they can honestly say they saw this coming. As I said before, I can't blame Cashman for the team underperforming to this extent. It's one of those enigmas, as I like to call them. We saw this as Sox fans in 2014 and in 2019. It's not fun. With half a season to go, I'm still not counting the Yankees out, but they need to get it going soon.
  8. Way ahead of Jacko's 2024/2025 predicted timeline. (Sorry Jacko, I couldn't resist.)
  9. Good point. And Barnes has apparently done just that. The Sox have won 3 out of 4 of those games.
  10. Thanks Ben! I agree about Toronto. It's still early, but if things continue as they are, Cora has to be in the discussion for MOY.
  11. In Bloom, we trust.
  12. Because ERod hasn't shown any ill effects of COVID since returning, I don't think it's a big concern. Of course, the Sox would do their due diligence on medicals, for what that's worth. Also, I'm not talking about a monster contract. I'm talking about a 4 year deal type of thing, buying out his last arb year.
  13. If I'm not mistaken, they were all 1 run leads that he has blown. Still a blown save, but better than blowing 2 or 3 run leads.
  14. Good stuff Illinois. That's pretty incredible. Palmer was obviously a much better pitcher than he is announcer. LOL
  15. I cannot argue against the head to head W-L records. I don't think that head to head record necessarily makes the AL West a stronger division. Against Houston, the AL East has a -45 run differential. Against the rest of the AL West, the AL East has a +44 run differential, and that includes lowly Baltimore with the 2nd worst run differential in baseball. I stand by my statement that outside of the Astros, the AL East > the AL West. Granted, I can't just discount the Astros. In which case, the AL West has a +1 advantage.
  16. I'm not too happy about seeing Marwin, Santana, and Chavis all in the lineup at the same time, but what can I say. Our offense is good. We just need to let Cora do his thing.
  17. Agreed. I don't think the FO is really concerned about long term COVID effects. I think the Sox will want to extend him, but they won't be crazy about it. It would have to be a team friendly deal.
  18. The Sox are exceeding my expectations as well, and I was pretty optimistic about this team going in. It's been a fun and much needed season after last year. The Yankees are currently experiencing our 2020 season. LOL
  19. The crack down seems to be working, no doubt. Beyond that, I am not in agreement that Manfred did a good job of handling this.
  20. The Jays need pitching. If they get starting pitching, look out.
  21. ERod has never pitched as poorly as his ERA suggests. It was only a matter of time before the results starting gelling with his performance.
  22. 100% agree, unless there is something that comes along that makes sense for the long term as well. A big deal will not be made in terms of improving for this year only.
