  1. I wanted Headley over Pablo as well. Headley stinking does ease the pain of Pablo a little.
  2. Don't question these things. Just roll with it.

    The Cubs

IMO, Epstein is already in a special place in baseball history, but yeah, leading the Cubs to a WS would put him over the top.
  4. Ben says "You're welcome!"
  5. It's very exciting to hear about all of these young players. The chances of all of them sticking are slim, but the future looks really bright.
  6. Good stuff Hugh. It does sound like a pretty big deal.
  7. That is a really sick and scary thought. As a parent, I cannot imagine even considering such a thing.
  8. Holt should not be our full time left fielder. IMO, he has far more value to us in his super utility role.
  9. Who would your Yankee player of the month be? That's a tough decision as well.
  10. You do not know this. Obviously, Pablo's injury has thrown a kink into this discussion, but had Pablo been healthy and our starting 3B, you don't know that 3B would have been a major problem. Not taking anything away from Shaw. He has been nothing short of awesome.
  11. I read today that Wright pitched entirely from the stretch from the 3rd inning on last night. He credits Price with giving him that advice to help him find his release point. I think Price's leadership and other "intangibles" will be just as valuable as his pitching will be.
  12. It's not just Young though, it's the entire offense against LHP.
  13. Sorry RSDD, but two thumbs down on this post. You are spewing a lot of vitriol towards Pablo that is based on nothing more than your biased perception of him.
  14. I am aware of the stats, and I have acknowledged that Clay's peripherals are not encouraging. I have also said that I'm confident that Price will pitch like the ace that he is. Regardless, I think there is a double standard. IMO, even if Price's peripheral stats were as bad as Clay's, Clay would still get a lot more criticism.
  15. Clay's got this! The Red Sox got this!
  16. The Sox have absolutely stunk against LH starters. They have scored, I believe, 2 runs in 23 innings pitched by left handers and are batting .108. Most of the right handed hitters have better splits against RHP, albeit very SSS. They all share the blame.
  17. Didn't like losing last night, to state the obvious, but sometimes there are bigger things to take away from a game. Wright was once again very good. And Smith should be a big addition to our BP.
  18. I'm not really sure what that means, but I really like the list of names that Benintendi is in company with.
  19. Exactly. Thank you.
  20. That really has nothing to do with anything.
  21. Price has not been heavily criticized and scrutinized. His performance has been questioned, but a far cry from the vitriol that Buchholz gets. I'm not saying that Price deserves to be heavily criticized. He doesn't. I'm just pointing out the difference in reaction to two pitchers who have both pitched very poorly.
  22. I am a big Clay supporter, but I have to agree with the impression of Price and Buchholz having different temperaments on the mound. Price seems fearless and mentally tough, while Buchholz sometimes seems to lack confidence.
  23. You missed it. LOL There is not much love for Buchholz here and very little patience for him. Most people did not want his option picked up, despite it being a no brainer. You make a very good point about people's perceptions of the two pitchers being colored by their histories, and understandably so. Clay can be maddening to watch at times. That said, without the benefit of hindsight, I don't see how anyone can say that picking up Clay's option was a bad move.
  24. I have very little doubt that Price will get it going. I have confidence in Clay to get it going too, but less confidence in him than I do in Price. That said, I think you have a very valid point in how both pitchers have pitched poorly, yet Price seems to be getting a pass while Buchholz is being highly criticized.
