  1. That would be part of it, IMO. They would also want a prospect or two.
  2. Fangraphs or BR? Don't answer that, I know.
  3. LOL This cracked me up.
  4. Thank you for deferring to me. Perhaps the bats went silent against other aces because those guys actually pitched like aces? That's what aces do. They shut down the other team's offense. I'm actually not upset about the way Price pitched against Bumgarner or Tillman. However, his body of work this season on the whole has not been ace like. He has been okay to good for the most part, but that's not what we got him for.
  5. Today starts a stretch of 43 games in 44 days, including the long west coast trip and 18 away games in August. It would be really nice to dominate on this home stand. Go Sox!
  6. Umm, no. What Theo did with the Cubs is an entirely different situation than what Dombrowski is doing now. What Theo did with the Cubs is what Ben was in the process of doing here, but was not allowed to follow it through to fruition. Theo completely tore down that team and rebuilt it from the ground up. Dombrowski is taking 'spare' parts from the team that Theo and Ben built here to fill in the holes, something that I believe Ben would have done had he not been fired. If I'm not mistaken, every player on the Cubs' active roster is a Theo acquisition over 5-6 years of building that team. Many of those were acquired by trading away, not prospects, but MLB active MLB players.
  7. I love Manny and all of his on field antics. It's a shame about some of his off field stuff. I will always be grateful for what he brought to the Sox. It's probably wrong, but I would welcome Manny back way before I would welcome Damon back.
  8. I could be on board with picking up Santana.
  9. I don't really get the desire to trade Hanley, especially when the team would be selling low on him. Hanley could possibly be a good DH next year if a better option for 1B comes along. It's a small sample, but he has good numbers when he DHs.
  10. I have plenty of stuff to worry about. It's what I do - I worry. A trait inherited from my wonderful mother.
  11. I have to admit that I keep an eye on the scoreboard pretty much all season. However, I do not worry about being 2-3 games back, nor do I fret over every Orioles win. I honestly fret more over every Yankees win than I do over every Orioles win. Why? I don't know. Everyone tells me that the Yanks have no chance, but they are on my list of things to worry about.
  12. LOL No need to worry about his option being picked up. At this point, I don't see him finishing the season with the Sox.
  13. Well that's the whole point. He was acquired to be our ace. While he has pitched decently, he has not lived up to expectations. If he were pitching like an ace, we would be in first place. That is not to say that he is the team's biggest concern, just to say that he's been a bit of a disappointment.
  14. It's seriously like you were in my head when you wrote this post, especially the part I bolded. I was thinking that if they keep 'hanging around', they might blow their opportunity to make some good trades with the seller's market being so ripe. That would definitely not be a bad thing. That said, if I could decide the fate of the Yankees, I would go with the completely crushed option. We can take care of the Os on our own.
  15. My rational side agrees with you. My emotional side, which is winning out, does not. The worst thing imaginable would be for the Yankees to go on some kind of run and be right back in this thing.
  16. I just want the Yankees to go away. They somehow manage to keep 'hanging around'. Must be that 'luck' factor I keep talking about.
  17. When I read that Correa was sentenced to 4 years, my reaction was 'Wow'. Honestly, I figured he'd get a fine, more or less a slap on the wrist.
  18. Agreed. This team looks like it is pretty well set for the foreseeable future. Maybe they even pick up Buchholz' option for 2017 and he comes back and surprises us! LOL Just kidding.
  19. Farrell said today that Kelly will remain in AAA for the time being. The BP has been holding its own recently, so there is not a need to call him up right now, at the risk of losing someone who doesn't have options.
  20. It is an absolutely great feeling to think that our starting rotation could be set for the next two years, not to mention most of our position players.
  21. Dombrowski is only able to make his acquisitions because of the Farm that Ben Built. Those things take time.
  22. IMO, we would have seen a more aggressive approach from Ben if he had been allowed to see his long term plan come to fruition. He had been mainly focusing on building the farm, while trying to fill in the holes with short term free agents that could keep the team competitive. This strategy worked beautifully in 2013 and failed miserably in 2014 and 2015. Ben was more or less following Theo's blueprint in Chicago. He just wasn't allowed to see it through, unfortunately.
  23. Letting the All Star Game determine home field advantage in the World Series is the stupidest decision ever. Even stupider than robot umps.
  24. I know that I should be hoping for the Yankees to win, but I just can't do it. Honestly, I would be happier if they lose. That said, if the Os lose, I won't complain.
