  1. The All Star Game will be hosted in NL parks for 4 consecutive years, this year being the 2nd year of the four. MLB decided to alternate who the home team is over this stretch.
  2. I suppose. It just strikes me as odd because I always think of NY as being the 'hated' teams. I could understand a Red Sox fan being a Seahawks fan, for instance.
  3. I was reading about that earlier, thinking the same thing. It sounds nice to have a $5M deal in place, but it was a deal that realistically was never going to happen.
  4. I think may be jumping the gun on calling the kid a punk. To be fair, he's 17 and is probably just following the advice of his agent and/or parents.
  5. I think you underestimate what it takes to build a successful baseball franchise.
  6. I have never understood how someone can be a Red Sox fan and a Jets fan. OTOH, I don't think I've ever known anyone who was a Yankees fan and a Patriots fan. And is this Brady stuff still going on? Really?
  7. OK, but he nailed the first part.
  8. The last two GMs, while not without fault, were awesome. It's a shame that you can't give them any credit.
  9. Agreed, Hugh did a good job of explaining it. I can understand where Spud is coming from though. He may be a little harsh and he may be jumping the gun a bit, as it seems like the deal will get done. But if it doesn't, I would have the sense of this kid being a little too full of himself. He's 17, he's being offered $3.5 mil, and that's not good enough? I would be disheartened.
  10. Nailed it.
  11. Two posts apart from each other, two entirely different meanings. Yes, I am easily amused.
  12. IMO, the Jays will be the team to beat in our division. They have a better team than either the Sox or the Os. That said, I 100% agree with you about not mortgaging the future for the short term.
  13. Well it's not something I would bet my paycheck on, but I will remain hopeful.
  14. Most of the trade speculation has been centered around the 'obvious' candidates. Dombrowski could just as well pull off a trade for a decent starting pitcher that no one saw coming. As far as I recall, no one talked about either Hill or Ziegler coming to the Sox, but now that they're here, they both make perfect sense, and their costs were reasonable. We've been focusing a lot on teams that are obvious sellers. Perhaps there's a team out there who is a buyer, who really needs a 3B or a catcher?
  15. I'm going to go with this. Perhaps I set my expectations too high, but I would think that after losing his job this year, Pablo will be highly motivated to come into camp next season in better shape and ready to play. I understand that he has a difficult time keeping the weight off, but he's been able to lose before when he's motivated to do so. #GoPanda
  16. When I hear 'Stanky', all I can think of is the 'Stankees'. I wouldn't wish that name on anyone who's not a Yankees fan. LOL
  17. Yes, he does have a knack for doing that. I'm a slow learner. I'm still hopeful he'll turn it around for the remainder of the season.
  18. JBJ trade?
  19. Dombrowski recently said something to the effect that every conversation he's had so far for pitching begins with the names of players he's not willing to part with. It will be be interesting to see what he does.
  20. Dude ought to change his name.
  21. I am a huge fan of the Theo and Ben philosophy of building an organization. IMO, it is spot on. Dombrowski has done a good job to this point. I am still somewhat concerned about what extent he might go to with a 'win now' attitude, but that remains to be seen. So far, so good.
  22. I don't see Brentz as a long term answer in LF, but for the time being, he is holding his own. I prefer Holt as a super utility guy, but with the addition of Hill, having Holt play LF regularly is less of an issue. Again, things could change quickly, but right now, there's no urgent need.
  23. Discussions about 'luck' in baseball make me all tingly inside.
  24. It has nothing to do with declaring victory.
  25. My contention is that there really isn't the need to call him up now, so why take the risk?
