  1. 1. Yes on giving credit to the Guardians. They happen to be a pretty good team. I don't think they're a better team, but they have certainly played better than the Sox in the first two games. 2. The Sox aren't dead yet. It may still be our year. 3. Farrell does not deserve the blame for Wright's injury.
  2. Thank you for being a voice of reason.
  3. I'm so bummed. I'm rained in in a hotel room and I was really looking forward to watching the game. At least I can watch the Jays/Rangers.
  4. Don't let us win Game 3!!!
  5. Sorry if I missed this somewhere, but has Kimbrel ever stated or given an indication that he would not be happy in a non-closer's role? Maybe he's a team first guy, and he's willing to do whatever the team needs him to do.
  6. Don't take it personally S5. It's not meant to be. You're a good poster and you have a lot to offer. It just doesn't usually require a new thread.
  7. I agree VA. It's annoying to have a new thread started on every whim. To MVP, keep up the good work in YOTN's absence.
  8. I'm with Spud. Theo is not traitor. If I'm in the position where I have to go against my professional values, I'm going to have to bow out.
  9. They didn't play indifferently. They played with the idea that getting the players some much needed rest was more important than going all out to get HFA. That was the absolute correct move for Farrell to make. Farrell was also likely getting a last look at some of the bench players and relievers to see who he wanted on the postseason roster.
  10. Who knows what the scores would have been if the playoffs started in Boston? Our offense scores more at Fenway, but our pitchers also give up more runs at Fenway. Perhaps the Guardians would have won by larger margins.
  11. I'm not sure I agree that we 'peaked too early', but overall, I agree with what you're saying. Every team slumps. Every team has losing streaks. We happened to lose 2 games to open the postseason, which makes things look very dire.
  12. Tito and Theo should have never been let go. IMO, that was a 'panic' move by Henry, much like letting Cherington go was. Also IMO, Beckett got a terrible rap as being the bad seed. Had the team not collapsed, the whole chicken and beer fiasco would have been viewed as a positive rather than a negative, a kind of bonding thing among the pitchers. As it was, it was blown way out of proportion.
  13. The irony of that statement runs much deeper than you know.
  14. You also bashed 'Francoma' endlessly when he was with the Sox. Now that he's with the Guardians, he's a genius. Go figure.
  15. This statement is laughable. As far as Papi's retirement tour, there may be some truth to Papi being 'hung over' from the exhaustion, but to say that the team lost focus due to his retirement is off the mark. The team has said that they are more focused because they are playing for Papi. The team had a couple of bad games. It's not because of lack of momentum. It's not because of lack of home field advantage. It's because they played badly. End of story.
  16. ^^This!!! Win! Let's go!!!
  17. Also, there is no truth to the myth that momentum (or lack thereof) carries into the playoffs. The team's record the last week of the regular season has no bearing on how they do in the postseason.
  18. You can argue the point as much as you want, but it doesn't make it any less true. Tell the Rangers how much of an advantage they've had at home.
  19. That's what I'm talking about. One game at a time. The Sox are nowhere near done. Thank goodness we have Buchholz pitching today. We have the Guardians right where we want them. Let's go!
  20. I didn't particularly care for the other one either. As I said before, I often associate the way a person looks with his/her avatar. Now I can picture Spud as an angel again rather than as a doofus. And yes, I picture a700 as a dog. LOL Just kidding guys. Mostly.....
  21. LOL I seriously need to start drinking. Let's go!
  22. Nerves are setting in. It's party time! Just WIN!!!
  23. The Rangers are not as good as their record indicates.
