  1. Come on Rick, get this last out!
  2. As I just posted, we'll have to wait to see what happens. I will be glad to give Dombrowski my sincerest apologies if our team remains a contender beyond the 3-4 year window.
  3. A lot can and probably will happen over the next 3 years. We will have to wait to see what happens. I can just say that as of now, I am not pleased with the long term outlook of the team. Dombrowski is a smart baseball man. He has time to right the long term ship.
  4. I think that the understanding between them was better for a while, but that it gradually worsened again. I have no proof of this, but I strongly believe it.
  5. I was just reading that it's the 10 year anniversary of the pizza throwing incident. That was hilarious. Reminds me of how much I miss Orsillo
  6. Just speculation and interpreting what I'm reading between the lines. I think he 'forced' a lot on both Theo and Ben that they were not in agreement with. Moves like Pablo just don't fit the MO of guys like Theo and Ben. IMO, Larry did a great job from the business aspect of things. He should have stayed out of baseball ops.
  7. I am surprised by your opinion on the topic of clutch.
  8. Yes, more or less.
  9. That was not the first time that I've complimented Dombrowski. I give credit where credit is due. FTR, I liked both the Smith and the Thornburg trades.
  10. I have basically stated and agree with everything that was in that person's article. In other words, your opinion of him translates onto me.
  11. Two words: Larry Lucchino But regardless, those were not all in moves. They were flashy, yes, but not all in. I think Ben might be behind the Hanley signing, but I think CC and Pablo were all on Larry.
  12. That's a very valid possibility.
  13. Even if he's not going to be our 3B or the remainder of the year, he needs to be given a fair chance to build up some trade value. I don't expect him to be an all star, but 2 weeks into the season is far too early to give up on him one way or the other.
  14. He does appreciate it. I'm positive that Dombrowski reads my criticism of him and takes it to heart.
  15. The long term philosophy is to have young replacements ready to take over by the time these guys hit free agency, in order to control costs.
  16. Thank you for this post.
  17. You have to start somewhere. I think the Sox were legitimately trying to head in that direction. Regardless, the farm was strong and the team had/has several homegrown players on it. You can't trade away all of your prospects.
  18. 2012 does not count. He finished last 2 out of 3 years, with a World Series thrown in there just for kicks.
  19. I don't hate the Rays as much as I used to when they were managed by Maddon. That said, the Rays just rolled over for the Yankees, which I don't appreciate. We should take at least 3 of 4 in this series. WIN! WIN! WIN!
  20. Both. I agree that mental factors play a large part in the game. I agree that players are not going to be in the same state of mind with every at bat. I don't agree that a player or team can 'will' themselves to win a game or get a hit with increased focus.
  21. Umm no. The 'Focus effect' is hardly fact. And don't assume to know what I have or have not done competitively.
  22. Even with the two last place finishes, Ben should have been allowed to keep his job for one more year.
  23. This is what I keep saying. IMO, Ben put a contender on the field in both 2014 and 2015. In one of those years, the Sox were the overwhelming favorite, by both computer rankings and baseball analysts, to win the division. That is all a GM can do - field a team that looks good on paper. What happens on the field is out of his control. I am not a fan of the Price contract or Dombrowski's philosophy, but I don't blame Dombrowski for Price's less than expected performance so far. If Sale falls flat on his face and/or the Sox do not make the playoffs this year, that will not be Dombrowski's fault. He did his job as far as this year's team is concerned.
