This is what I keep saying. IMO, Ben put a contender on the field in both 2014 and 2015. In one of those years, the Sox were the overwhelming favorite, by both computer rankings and baseball analysts, to win the division. That is all a GM can do - field a team that looks good on paper. What happens on the field is out of his control.
I am not a fan of the Price contract or Dombrowski's philosophy, but I don't blame Dombrowski for Price's less than expected performance so far. If Sale falls flat on his face and/or the Sox do not make the playoffs this year, that will not be Dombrowski's fault. He did his job as far as this year's team is concerned.
