  1. He has always had good stuff. Ace quality stuff. Maybe we can trade for him.
  2. That's the spirit. It's frustrating to lose to the Os, especially when we score 6 runs, but it happens. Win tomorrow, win the series. It's all good.
  3. Wright is not expected back anytime soon. ERod sounds hopeful that he will be back sooner rather than later.
  4. Good observations. Yes, you can believe the data analysts keep track of all of those numbers. It seems the 100 pitch marker is now being more and more outweighed by the '3rd time through the order' philosophy. I haven't really paid attention to how closely those two things are related, but my guess is that they go pretty well hand in hand.
  5. LOL Just watched the documentary earlier today. Good stuff. I'm trying to decide if Williams was a class A jerk or really nice guy.
  6. Ah. Well now your post makes a lot more sense.
  7. That would stink if the game gets rained out. Probably even worse if he has to sit through a couple hour long rain delays.
  8. 1. Mookie Betts ® RF 2. Andrew Benintendi (L) LF 3. J.D. Martinez ® DH 4. Mitch Moreland (L) 1B 5. Xander Bogaerts ® SS 6. Jackie Bradley Jr. (L) CF 7. Eduardo Nunez ® 2B 8. Rafael Devers (L) 3B 9. Blake Swihart (S) C Swihart gets the nod behind the dish to catch Pom. This is a good test for both parties.
  9. Fair enough. Let's hope Pom gets it together. Unfortunately, it's not looking good for the game tonight weather wise.
  10. Sanchez also went after the passed ball in the first inning very nonchalantly. When the baserunner saw that, he headed for home. Maybe Sanchez thought that grounder was a sure out at first, but that still doesn't excuse him from hustling down the line, especially in a bases loaded situation with the game on the line.
  11. Gary being Gary?
  12. I agree. I can forgive Devers for forgetting how many outs there are. Thankfully it did not cost us the game. Hopefully, the coaches make it a teachable moment and Devers learns from it. Failure to run out a grounder and a passed ball is not easily forgivable, especially in that game situation.
  13. I disagree that trying to get Pablo back into the everyday lineup was patently ridiculous. As I said, I was okay with the trade when it happened. Of course, it looks terrible in hindsight, making it difficult to defend, but I had no problem with dealing Shaw. The fault, IMO, lies with not having a viable back up plan should Pablo fail. In fairness, if I recall correctly, Marco was part of the plan but was out most of the season with injury.
  14. Either way, you can't really make any judgments off of one start. Confidence wise, Pom could really use a good start. I still think Cora needs to have an argument in the dugout with Pom to get Pom on the right track.
  15. He remains an option, if needed. I'm sure he will be the guy to piggy back with Pom tonight if Pom does not make it through 5.
  16. Moon, I don't remember which thread we were discussing base running miscues in, but I wanted to acknowledge that Devers getting doubled off at 2B last night was indeed a boneheaded out, not one that can really be attributed to over aggressiveness. I have to admit, I have a soft spot in my heart for Devers. He's so young.
  17. The Yankees took on what I believe will be another albatross contract with Stanton, so I don't see that as getting away with robbery. That said, I get your point. I always feel like the Yankees give up relatively little in their trades compared to what other teams give up.
  18. Another solid post. With all of Devers struggles, upgrading 3B is not on my list of priorities.
  19. Solid post. If Dombrowski did nothing before the deadline, I would be okay with that. I would look for a late inning reliever, mostly because I think that would be the easiest get. Whatever he does or doesn't do, this team has what it takes to make a deep run in the playoffs, provided they stay healthy.
  20. Cashman made a comment about a week ago that he thinks that the Yankees deep farm system is hurting the Yankees in trade talks. Either the other teams are asking for too much because they know Cash has the pieces to deal, or Cash thinks the other teams are asking for too much because Cash is overvaluing his pieces. Either way, it sounds like Cash is not willing to 'overpay' to fill his needs.
  21. I agree. I mean, if he fell in our laps for cheap, I'd obviously take him. But with all the bidding going on for him, we could do just fine with a lesser known reliever.
  22. Good point about the spring training workload.
  23. I am sure that Cora is not making these decisions on his own, without consulting Sale and having Sale fully on board. I think that if Sale feels like he is being rested too much, to the point where it is disrupting his timing or doing more harm than good, then Cora would cut back on the amount of rest. It's only been 1/2 a season, but my impression is that the team has great belief and trust in Cora. Things tend to work a lot better when the players believe in what they're doing.
