  1. Bummer. What day are you going?
  2. For sure. I was answering in terms of the 2 players being relatively equal. I'd go with the stronger defender over the stronger offense.
  3. One more stat from BP: Eovaldi's DRA or Deserved Run Average = 2.99
  4. Eovaldi's HR/FB ratio this season is 18.3%, almost twice his career norm. The homeruns may be more of a fluke than anything else?
  5. Yup. Unless Chapman is injured. This looks more like a postseason move than one for the regular season.
  6. Since returning from the DL, Eovaldi has a 6.6 K/BB ratio, which is 3rd best in the AL behind Kluber and Verlander. Sale is 4th with a 6.3 ratio. Also, his xFIP and SIERA are 3.49 and 3.46, respectively. What I'm trying to say is that his peripheral stats paint a better picture of him than what his ERA indicates.
  7. I'm not thrilled about giving up Beeks either, especially after only pitching 6 innings in the majors, but on the whole, I'm good with this trade. It would have been nice if we could have more clarity on the status of our injured pitchers, but with so many question marks in our rotation, Eovaldi is a good get. The good news is that his contract keeps us under the next luxury tax limit and also allows us to add a reliever. At the very least, Eovaldi adds some much needed depth.
  8. Per Dombrowski: 1. Johnson will make his next start tomorrow, then will go to the pen. Pom will remain in the rotation, for now. 2. The rotation for the Yankees series next week: Thursday: Chris Sale Friday: Rick Porcello Saturday: Nathan Eovaldi Sunday: David Price
  9. My money is on Price and the Sox offense. WIN!!!
  10. Back to back to back.
  11. It's always nice going into a night game knowing that the Yankees have already lost.
  12. And then there's CC's xFIP, which is 4.52.
  13. No doubt. They need one.
  14. I am fine with what we have at 2nd base. Get us a late inning reliever and call it a day.
  15. I would go with the better catcher. That said, Swihart has not done anything behind the plate yet that makes me think that he's not fully capable.
  16. I am good with this trade because of our health/depth concerns, but Beeks has only pitched 6.1 innings in the bigs, way too short of a sample size to conclude anything.
  17. Thanks for this. Makes sense. I was just thinking that Velazquez is our long man, so I figured he be in there since Pom didn't last very long.
  18. Here is how Pom's stuff played out last night: Red Sox Stats ‏ @redsoxstats 8h8 hours ago Pomeranz has maxed out at 89.9 with an average of 88.1 tonight. 92.3 is his max this year, with only eighteen pitches 91+. He's only got 3 whiffs on 25 curves and the location has not been great.
  19. I know it's not the popular opinion, but I think they have to give Pom another start. If we were ripe with starting pitching, that might not be the case, but with the injuries to ERod and Wright, he gets another shot. Thankfully, the team is playing well enough to be able to afford that luxury.
  20. I am wondering why Cora didn't bring Velazquez in for a couple of innings instead of going with Kelly.
  21. This is my feeling as well. That said, I still think Cora's decision to leave Pom in can be justified.
  22. I bet that Dombrowski will pleasantly surprise us before the trade deadline.
  23. Stop Jacko. Just stop. The Sox have one bad game and here you are going on with your nonsense again. You need to focus on how your team is going to win the wildcard game.
  24. I disagree Slash. Besides thinking that it's important to have input from the players, I don't think Sale is driven by personal accomplishments to the point where he would sacrifice the team's goals. I don't think he was pushing to stay in that game just so he could get to 300 Ks.
