  1. Also of note: Since early in the season, when the Sox were 5-0 in one run games, the Sox have been 10-10 in one run games. The Astros are 14-17 in one run games, while the Yankees are 16-11.
  2. The Sox are in the midst of a 2 game losing streak. I might point out that both of those losses are by one run, which I attribute mostly to randomness. I might also point out that in both games, the Sox left the bases loaded, but were not able to get the job done. This is a prime example of why I don't subscribe to the 'Good teams know how to win the close games' belief.
  3. I really don't understand the Cora bashing. You really can't do much better than he has done. I understand questioning the decision not to pinch hit for Jackie. Personally, I have no problem with Jackie batting for himself last night, but I can see why people would want Moreland up instead. Calling Cora a moron or blaming Cora for that loss is going just a bit overboard.
  4. I was one of the few who disliked Hanley being DFA'd, but this post makes absolutely no sense.
  5. Gotta feel good with Sale on the mound. WIN!!!
  6. Thank you for this post as well. Personally, I had no problem with Cora leaving JBJ in to hit there.
  7. Thank you for this post. Sometimes, you just have to tip your cap to the opposing pitcher. Gibson pitched a great game. On a bright note, Johnson also pitched a very good game. And our pitching, on the whole, only gave up 2 runs. Going into any game, I think we'd all be thrilled if someone told us that our pitching would only allow 2 runs in the game.
  8. Tough break. Like Slasher said, even with the Yankees, you don't like to see this type of thing. Hopefully, this won't sideline him for too long.
  9. Tony Massarotti ‏Verified account @TonyMassarotti 5 hours ago According to updated MLB Pipeline prospect list, Red Sox are the only organization in baseball currently without a prospect in the Top 100. Thanks Dave!
  10. I think both GMs have been working on numerous trade scenarios for weeks and weeks based on their individual team needs. I think the Yankees were getting a starting pitcher no matter what the Sox did.
  11. The nice thing is that we now have some options. We don't have to have Pom in the rotation, which is the importance and value of depth. Before we got Eovaldi, I posted that the Sox really needed to give Pom another start or two, despite how badly he's pitched. My opinion about that hasn't changed. We need to see what he can give, and luckily, we have the wiggle room to be able to do that. And good job with the avatar.
  12. The Ms and the As are closing in. The Yankees should be afraid. Very afraid.
  13. Dave might make another move, but it won't be in reaction to the Yankees move. At least I hope not.
  14. Cora and Dombrowski already have the rotation mapped out through the Yankees series, where Pom will not have to pitch in that series. I would think that short cycling Price back in messes that up.
  15. Fair enough about Nunez and his negative WAR. We could make a significant upgrade at 2B, but I don't think we can do so and stay within the next penalty limit. Personally, I hope the FO does not choose to go over it. I think our team is good enough as is, even with Nunez and his negative WAR, to challenge for the championship. I would, however, play Holt more and give Lin and extended look.
  16. We should be able to win at least 3 out of 4. Though nothing is guaranteed, I will be disappointed with less than that. Get it done boys!
  17. I am hoping that the TJ surgery is the difference maker as well. I'm not expecting Eovaldi to become the next Sale or anything close, but he doesn't have to be. He was acquired to give us some depth and to be the #5 starter over Pom. Is that worth giving up 6 years of control for Beeks? That remains to be seen. I do think there's some upside with Eovaldi, judging by his peripherals and by what I've read about him. He's a right handed pitcher who has held RHHs to a .207 BA. That will be helpful against the lefty mashing Yankees. He can also pitch out of the pen if needed, which could be very helpful in the playoffs.
  18. I still think that the Sox are trying their darnedest not to go over the next luxury tax limit, and will do so unless they are met with a deal that they simply can't refuse. To me, that means that Dombrowski will get a relief pitcher and that will be it. If I had to choose between adding a late inning reliever or a 2B, I would add a reliever. I don't think anyone that we could add at 2B would be a significant upgrade.
  19. The Yankees will be easier to beat than the Astros. Moot point though. They aren't getting past the wildcard game.
  20. That's too bad about not being able to see Sale, but it will still be an awesome game, I'm sure. Enjoy!
  21. I completely agree. At least let the part of the game that has been played count.
  22. That's a rational way of looking at it. It still ticks me off though. LOL If anything, they never should have started the game.
  23. That said, I'm watching the Os pregame show right now. It doesn't appear to be raining right now and they are still calling for first pitch to be at 7:05.
  24. This is what I got from another site: Likely To Be Delayed Or Rained Out According to Forecast.io, it's expected to be 79° F with a 49% chance of rain in Baltimore at 7:05 PM EST. Hourly Forecasts: Weather.com Weather Underground Forecast.io Heavy rain will likely delay, and possibly postpone, Wednesday night's AL East matchup in Baltimore. A light breeze will blow out to left field if the game is played.
