  1. Translation: Kimmi is right again.
  2. And the umps have no one to 'check and balance' their balls and strikes calls during the game. It's one person's subjective call.
  3. I'm not dismissing anything. You are hung up on my statement in which I said we can get almost the same production as we are getting from Kimbrel. I have since rephrased. We can get the same production with a less expensive closer.
  4. He didn't have great command. He had a lot of base runners, for sure. But, he kept most of them from scoring.
  5. These are the types of posts that people make when they know the other person has a valid point.
  6. Once again, I am not saying to get a closer that is no good or one that will fail regularly. Let me rephrase what I said earlier. You can get a closer as good as Kimbrel for much cheaper.
  7. You are not even close to what I am saying Dojji. Come on, you're better than this.
  8. Yes, for one year. Which got us a ring, so it was worth it. But look at what happened the two years following that.
  9. You are the one who brought up the thing about the closer blowing Game 7.
  10. The point is that a very good closer is going to get the job done the vast majority of the time. And they are all going to blow a game here and there. Sometimes even the biggest games. You can get that production for cheaper than $15 mil a year.
  11. Well, believe it or not, that's my general philosophy for building a good pen. Those elite relievers often come from places unexpectedly. Assemble as many good arms as you can and see who rises to the top. Also, in fairness to Ben, Bailey, Hanrahan, and Melancon were all better than how they pitched for us in 2013.
  12. It's only been two starts, so we don't want to get ahead of ourselves. That said, his peripheral stats have told a different story than his ERA. There are reasons to be optimistic.
  13. Yes, it would. You are probably right that walking Beni would be the right move in the situation you mentioned. Not a no brainer, though.
  14. There are run expectancy matrices for scoring one run in an inning and there are run expectancy matrices for total number of runs for the inning. Even in terms of scoring just one run, intentionally walking Beni increases the chances, though slightly. It could be that there is enough of a drop off from Beni to JBJ to make it the right move. I just wouldn't call it a no-brainer.
  15. No letting up! WIN!!!
  16. Back to back to back.
  17. Also, I'm guessing the margin of error for strikeouts is larger than that of WAR.
  18. I'm not talking about the umpires actual calls though. I'm talking about the strikeout statistic. Do you think the strikeout statistic is exact in measuring how many Ks either a pitcher or a batter have? If strike outs are not subject to someone's interpretation, then I don't know what is. That's my point. I'm not saying that anyone has to accept anything blindly. I don't accept UZR blindly. I accept it with a good bit of knowledge, and with understanding of its flaws and shortcomings. I am just questioning why people are willing to accept strikeouts (or any other statistic for that matter) but not UZR. IMO, strikeouts are more subjective than UZR is.
  19. Unfortunately, the league, outside of about 5 teams, is so weak that the Yankees not making the playoffs is unlikely to happen. We can hope though.
  20. 'Nuff said.
  21. It's too bad the Yankees won anyway, but it was nice to see Britton cough up that lead.
  22. Pom pitched okay. I mean, he didn't implode for 6 runs or anything like that. Those walks are infuriating though. I would give Pom ONE more shot as a starter. Then again, if the Sox didn't do that, I wouldn't complain.
  23. JD is so good that Moreland hits a 3 run game winning bomb and JD gets the credit for it.
