  1. As I responded before, I think that's an intriguing thought.
  2. LOL I was going to add "Buccholz should be next" but I refrained. But in all sincerity, I think he should be.
  3. I have always been on board with the minor league depth train. Keep 'em coming Dave!
  4. I don't want Harper either.
  5. If they had any sense, the Very Good wouldn't be in the Hall to begin with. As Moon says, it's a big mess.
  6. No one, to my knowledge, has blamed Lucchino for every bad move. No one, to my knowledge, has said that he's incompetent. But yes, he was star driven. He more or less admitted to such. His priority in signing players was not to win games, but to put fans in the seats.
  7. Minor league depth signing!!! Woohoo!
  8. No. Just no. Please no. Certainly, Dombrowski cares how I feel about Machado. He has been trying to get on my good side this past year, and has done a rather good job of it. A Machado signing would set him several years back.
  9. Dombrowski gets his share of credit. Just don't make Ben out to be some kind of incompetent fool while making Dombrowski out to be the genius that saved this team from the abyss. I don't mean you personally, but there's a lot more of that kind of thinking here than I think you realize.
  10. I'm fine with that. But remember, Ben was Theo's right hand man and had a part in everything that Theo did. Dombrowski walked into a gold mine that he had no part in assembling before he became GM.
  11. I prefer Moreland hitting 3rd instead of 4th or 5th like he did so often last year. I'd be okay with switching Pedroia and the Moreland/Pearce duo.
  12. As someone mentioned, opt outs seem to be the way long term contracts are going. I would be surprised if any of Machado, Harper, Betts signed contracts without at least one opt out.
  13. Hmmm, I wonder who signed that Miggy to that crazy 8 year extension?
  14. I don't think you can count the ones that have been good 'so far' as being good. The early part of the contract is not where the problems usually occur.
  15. Probably, but that doesn't mean that either one is necessarily a good idea.
  16. Contracts have become insane. I really don't like it.
  17. I don't know what the answer is, but Dombrowski will have to come up with something creative like that.
  18. If it were me, I'd go with 1. Betts 2. Beni 3. Pearce/Moreland 4. JD 5. Bogaerts 6. Devers 7. Pedroia 8. Vaz/Leon 9. JBJ and call it a day.
  19. Don't encourage the fire where there need not be any.
  20. I don't think anyone is really complaining about the penalty. I'm probably one of the posters most against this big spending, and I'm fine with the penalty because it got us a ring.
  21. Well, Pedroia definitely needs to be on that list. The Sox have no choice but to repeat.
  22. Actually, this is more Cherington's championship than it is Dombrowski's.
  23. It could also be said that it's only a sharp strategy because we won it all. What is we had been knocked out in the first round again? If it hadn't have worked, things would not be looking as 'okay' with the penalties as they do now.
  24. You, of course, are welcome to make as many line up changes and suggestions as you want. I'm just probably not going to agree with them.
  25. No doubt. It's not the $35 million I'm concerned about, it's the 10 years.
