  1. I am not happy with the PEDs stigma either.
  2. The Sox definitely handled Swihart poorly.
  3. That's fine if Swihart was not meant to be a catcher. But after he played left field for a brief stint, then returned from injury, the Sox committed to having Swihart play only at catcher. But then gave him no playing time.
  4. His numbers do not look good at the moment, but Jackie has been a 5.3, 2.2, and 2.8 fWAR player the last 3 years. He is our #8 or #9 hitter. He is not supposed to carry this team offensively. Jackie's hitting, or lack thereof, is not the problem with the offense. The problem is that most of the rest of the line up is not getting the job done.
  5. Except for HR/9. The 'Porcello' should be renamed the 'Sale'.
  6. You really think Dombrowski, not to mention all the people he has working with him, is stupid enough to fall into being swayed by a post season small sample size?
  7. If the FO members are being dazzled into signing players based on their postseason performances, they have no business being in a baseball FO. I give Dombrowski more credit than that.
  8. I am 100% completely defending this.
  9. I would have welcomed Kelly back, but not for that price.
  10. I agree that the key is to find the right guys. The team has enough people employed, both on the scouting side and the analytics side, to be able to do so.
  11. We'll have to disagree on the need to pay for consistent relievers. Also, you can word it however you want, but relievers are inconsistent for the most part.
  12. Two hits by the Red Sox up until the 8th inning, and JBJ is problem.
  13. What about Chavis' 'imbecilic K' with a man on 3rd and only one out? That was the key at bat in that inning.
  14. I don't think Swihart should have been moved to LF after only 8 games aat catcher. That is not the same as blaming the ankle injury on management.
  15. No, the scenarios were very similar. In both cases, you have a player in a situation in which he was not the best prepared to be in. Wright is an athlete. He should be able to run bases. Blaming Farrell for the injury is just silly.
  16. Right, but that's not a reason for the Sox not to give a QO. Unless they're more concerned with Porcello's welfare after he leaves the team than they are with the team's welfare.
  17. Not even a rainout can mess with Max Mojo!
  18. Also, it's funny that the people besides me who don't blame management for Swihart's injury, because those things happen, still blame Farrell for ruining Steven Wright.
  19. This is what I envisioned. One would be our starting catcher and the other would be traded for something good and become the starting catcher for another team.
  20. My opinion that the Sox handled Swihart poorly has nothing to do with him breaking his ankle. Those things happen and are not the fault of management.
  21. For a minor league contract, I'm in.
  22. The point still being that you should not spend big on relievers. You can find good relievers for cheap, and spending big does not guarantee that they will be good. That money is better spent elsewhere, even if it's for a platoon 1B.
  23. I was and still am critical of Dombrowski's first 2 years here. I am mostly very pleased with what he's done the last 2 years.
