  1. Cora has been saying what a great leader Xander has become, especially with Devers. Also, thank goodness we didn't trade Xander for Machado. Not that it was ever close to reality, but it was talked about here a lot.
  2. You are never as bad as you look when you're team is losing, and never as good as you look when you're winning. We've had some bad games. We've also run into some bad luck and some bad timing as far as when we've played certain teams. We can't expect to make up 5 games in a week. One game at a time.
  3. Ha. Fair point. I like Jacko. He knows that. But my goodness, he can get carried away when the Yankees are playing well.
  4. I do not think 2017 was the norm. However, it would be tough for both Betts and JD to repeat their 2018 seasons. Regression from 2018 is not surprising, but not to the 2017 level. As I said, the overall numbers don't look bad.
  5. LOL There are many Yankees players that I have an intense dislike for. Most of them, actually. Gardner and Voit currently top the list.
  6. Also, thank goodness the pen did not blow last night's game. I just don't have the energy for that.
  7. But why might the pen be tired? And why might they have become somewhat ineffective? Because the starters were not doing their job. The pen needs some help. I won't deny that. But to date, the 'hole' that the Sox are in is due more to both the rotation and the offense than it is to the pen.
  8. I don't see any way that the Sox blow this roster up. There's simply not enough competition in the AL to warrant the Sox becoming sellers.
  9. I am not a fan of Rodney either.
  10. Dombrowski is not sitting around idly. You know that. He is looking into every possible upgrade that can be made. There will be upgrade(s) to the pen.
  11. It has been proven, statistically, that resting players for the playoffs rather than going all out for home field advantage or to win the division (when there was only one wildcard) gave the team a better chance of winning in the postseason. It's not quite the same thing, but rest matters.
  12. The resting prevents the players from becoming tired and worn down.
  13. There are many times when I have questioned why he is resting a certain player on a certain day. Or why he insists on resting 2-3 regular players on the same day. He did the same thing all last year, and it paid huge dividends. It is fair to question what Cora is doing. For me, he has earned the benefit of the doubt.
  14. Don't act like you have the division wrapped up on June 2. And quit being so obnoxious.
  15. Mookie, JD, and Beni have been extremely frustrating to watch. Some regression from Mookie and JD was not unexpected, but more than the overall numbers, they just don't seem to be able to get the key hit. There has been a lot of criticism of the bottom of the order, but to me, it seems like those three are more the reason that the offense looks so listless at times.
  16. 2014 all over again. I read this little tidbit a few minutes ago: At 29-29, the Sox are 9.5 G back in the AL East on June 1. In 2015, they weren't 9.5 back until June 20. In 2014, they weren't 9.5 back until June 6. Even in the -- gulp -- Bobby Valentine year, they weren't 9.5 back until July 8.
  17. I know that projections mean very little as opposed to what actually happens. However, what the projections do show us is that the Red Sox should not be this bad, and that things should get much better. That's reason to be optimistic.
  18. And I'm still saying the same thing. It ain't over 'til it's over. FTR, the Pythagorean records of the Red Sox and Yankees, respectively, are 31-27 and 36-21. The Red Sox are not as bad as their record indicates, nor are the Yankees as good as their record indicates. The difference in the Red Sox/Yankees games so far has mostly been the Red Sox' inability to get a timely hit. Sox vs Yankees with RISP in four games: 2-22, 10 Ks, no extra-base hits, .091/.167/.091 That is, for the most part, a random, fluky type thing. And quit being so obnoxious.
  19. I was not against the Kinsler trade at all, but what a nice cheap option he's been for the Angels so far.
  20. Amen, brother Notin.
  21. Well now we're back on spending big on the BP or not. We'll have to disagree on that.
  22. I guess we'll see if the Yankees are up to that challenge!
  23. You are probably right about that.
  24. I have changed my October penciling in to ink. The Sox got this.
