  1. I was surprised that Cashman didn't add a quality starter during the preseason, and perhaps even more surprised when he didn't add one at the deadline. I have thought all along that starting pitching would be their downfall, and if not for German, they would be in much worse shape. Anything can happen in the playoffs, so the Yankees might catch fire at the right time. But if I were a betting person, I'd bet on the Astros, the Dodgers, and the Guardians before the Yankees. Oddly enough, I'd bet on the Red Sox over the Yankees too, if we can manage to get there.
  2. I have always been a big fan of depth. It is often the case that the season doesn't come down to what your starting players do, but what the depth players can do when the starters inevitably spend some time on the DL.
  3. I don't think you will be successful with that much reliance on your bullpen.
  4. Not according to our man, Pythagoras.
  5. Your pitching will definitely by helped out by your bullpen, but I'm not sure if it will be enough. As I said, I may very well end up eating my words, but I'm just not feeling it for the Yankees this year. Maybe it's wishful thinking. Maybe not.
  6. Five weeks left to play. Make up 1-2 games each week. It's doable.
  7. IMO, starting pitching will be your downfall. It works against the Os, when the Yankees can just out slug them. Against a team that can pitch well? I'm not so sure. Getting Severino back in ace form would definitely help your cause.
  8. 10. Dombrowski apparently agrees with you.
  11. I may end up eating my words, which will have happened a lot this season. Anything can happen once in the playoffs. I just don't have the confidence in the Yankees that many have. That said, they are the luckiest team ever, so they have that going for them.
  12. Nice response. Way to wiggle out of that one.
  13. The comparison that he was trying to make between analytics reducing bunting, thereby causing the lost art of bunting, and robot umps causing the lost art of framing is not a valid comparison. I do agree with your first thought that bunting still has its place in the game and I do agree that it's a lost art.
  14. No, it really wasn't. Don't encourage the man.
  15. Fair enough.
  16. Most definitely. No, I don't think that the sac bunt should be used more, but there are often times when a hitter should be able to bunt. It's a shame that so many of them cannot.
  17. Are you calling me and Slasher Dumb and Dumber??? My only question is, which one of us is Dumb, and which is Dumber?
  18. LOL That works too.
  19. I really do not disagree with anything here, except for the 'superficial' line about Eovaldi. I am fine with the way Dombrowski handled the off season in terms of the 25 man roster. I am always on board with adding more pitching depth, as much as you can reasonably acquire. As I posted before, I agree that Dombrowski fell asleep in terms of adding more depth, particularly for the pen, and particularly during the season.
  20. Stop Jacko. Just stop. Also, when was the last time you saw a parade? Think you're seeing one this year? Think again.
  21. You should join my Fan Club. You would be in the best company imaginable.
  22. Ottavino and Workman are virtually the same pitcher. One costs $27 mil, $9 mil this year. The other costs $1.15 mil. Both are due for some serious regression. While the $27 mil contract looks good to most people this year, there's a good chance it will look pretty bad next year.
