  1. I love you.
  2. Who are you kidding? The farm was decimated. It went from a top 3 to a bottom 3 in approximately 2 years.
  3. Yes, Henry ultimately had to green light the moves. And yes, Henry brought in somebody that he knew would be aggressive. Henry really cannot pass the blame for the restrictive state that this team is in. My point is that regardless of all of that, Dombrowski could have brought us a championship without going to the extreme that he did. Also, payroll is an issue because we don't have a farm.
  4. Thanks Lucchino!
  5. I predict not only stress free WC games, but also an entire stress free postseason. Having a team that stinks has its advantages. LOL Beyond that, I don't know who is going to win, but I'm pulling against the Rays in the AL WC, which means they'll likely win.
  6. As bad as our pen was this year in save %, I would spend cheaply on the pen again this year. That said, if the dynamic of the starting pitcher versus the reliever is changing to the extreme where we will have openers and the starters are only expected to go 3-4 innings, then obviously the pen becomes more important. In that case, there would be no need to spend big bucks on the starters. Bottom line: Guys like Sale and Price have to do their jobs and earn their contracts.
  7. Well I think free agent contracts for top closers are bad contracts. Paying a bad contract because other teams are paying bad contracts doesn't make it a good contract. IMO, the worst type of big contract to give out is to a reliever. Also, as Notin pointed out, you can't just ignore the prospects given up. The Kimbrel deal is one that I would not have done.
  8. Also, JD would be stupid to opt out.
  9. There is a lot of talent on the team. The poor pitching, leading to the poor W-L record was rather fluky, if you ask me. Regardless of what happens this offseason, I am willing to bet the Sox will be contenders next season.
  10. I don't necessarily want to deal Betts, but nor do I want to sign him to a massive long term deal. I would prefer the former option over the latter. I agree with you on Henry's lack consistency. He tends to overreact.
  11. Kimbrel's contract was a double whammy. It was an overpay in both prospects and money.
  12. Post of the day!
  13. Dombrowski could have brought us the title without decimating the farm. The team that was in place when Dombrowski came on board was that good. IMO, Dombrowski was too extreme in his moves.
  14. I'm with you. The Red Sox will be fine.
  15. I think the people who want JD and Mookie gone are looking for a complete rebuild, and they want it to happen as quickly as possible. They are willing to pass on next season to get it done. However, I don't see a rebuild of that magnitude happening. Henry won't allow it to happen. I think both JD and Mookie will be on the Red Sox next year, as well as most of the rest of the team. I really don't see any major changes coming this offseason, provided the health news on Sale and Price is positive.
  16. Thanks Dave!
  17. I'm not buying the whole dysfunctional thing. Maybe things broke down a little towards the end of Dombrowski's tenure, but the Red Sox FO's have put together more championship teams than any other since Henry took over. I do think Henry tends to panic, or be impatient, as you like to put it, but that is hardly the same thing as dysfunctional. I really hope they bring Theo back.
  18. Wow, that's some cool stuff right there!
  19. LOL He does get bonus points for his name. And yes, great catch last night.
  20. IMO, JBJ is the most likely to be traded, though if it were up to me, I'd keep him. I can't see JD being traded unless we're out of contention by the deadline.
  21. Just doesn't make any sense to me. They aren't in any of our future plans, and they aren't even worth showcasing.
  22. These are my thoughts exactly.
  23. LOL Your reasoning makes as much sense as any other. ERod got the win, though it wasn't pretty. Reaching 20 wins seems to be such a rare feat these days. Can he do it? Stay tuned!
  24. I very much doubt we see either one in ST too. I think I am in the minority, but I'm not expecting a lot of shocking changes this offseason.
  25. The Rangers announcers were talking about it as well.
