  1. No they won't, and Henry won't go in that direction.
  2. The answer to your question is a resounding YES. I don't see any house cleaning taking place this offseason.
  3. Lucchino is a talented businessman, I have no doubt. The problem is that his priorities in building a baseball team tend to lean toward the business side of things, not the baseball side of things. Therefore, his his influence in baseball ops decisions gets dumped on, and rightly so, IMO.
  4. I'm not convinced that Henry is going to reset this year.
  5. I can agree with going a little overboard for a player at the deadline who can put the team over the top. I don't agree with the win at any cost philosophy that creates a future cliff.
  6. LOL The fat Beni jokes are making me laugh way more than they have any right to.
  7. We should be able to win some rings without having the bust years in between.
  8. I just read that Greinke, who last 3.2 innings if I'm not mistaken, is making more than the entire Rays lineup. Crazy stuff.
  9. I think the Nats are history.
  10. Rule #1 Tyler: Football season does not begin until baseball season, including playoffs, is over.
  11. It's possible. JBJ I can definitely see. JD, not as much. I think we'll see much of the same team return, with an eye on resetting next off season, but I certainly wouldn't be completely shocked if they are both gone.
  12. IMO, also in terms of the job that they did while here.
  13. Great game between the Braves and the Cards. The Braves kindly returned the heartbreaking defeat to the Cards that the Cards gave them in Game 1. Playoff baseball = good stuff.
  14. Theo > Ben > Dombrowski Still.
  15. Betts is not being traded.
  16. I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. If the team can reset AND stay competitive, that would obviously be the ultimate goal. I think it can be done, but it will take some really shrewd moves and a bit of luck. It would also take our starting pitchers to perform well and to give us innings. I don't expect Sale or Price to return to peak form, but I do expect them both to be better than they were this season, both in terms of innings pitched and in terms of quality. I think pitching deep into the postseason last year had a larger effect on them than the team thought it would.
  17. Yes, they have been in semi-tank mode. Perhaps if Ben were the GM, he could have signed players similar to Victorino and Napoli and won a World Series while semi-tanking.
  18. Kids of stars would presumably have the best coaches growing up!
  19. I can't disagree with that.
  20. Good post. I agree with the points that you made about Betts being traded. If anything, he will be traded midseason if the Sox don't look like they're going anywhere. I would also love for Mookie to retire in a Red Sox uniform, but I would not be willing to pay him what I think it will cost to keep him. That goes back to your first point, of how the contract would impact the team's future dealings.
  21. I would love Farrell back as pitching coach. IMO, that is his true calling. That said, my understanding is that he's looking for another managing position. I'm guessing he would not want to return to the Red Sox either way.
  22. Ben the Coffee Boy is doing a very good job of building up the Jays' farm system. We should be so lucky.
  23. First off, good for you for taking what sounds like an awesome vacation! I hope you had a great time! To be honest, I really have know idea what direction the FO is going to take. I know that that they are looking to reset, but I'm not sure how possible that will be, while at the same time keeping the team competitive. And I just can't see Henry allowing the GM to put a non-competitive team on the field. This is why I don't see a lot of changes coming about. The Sox don't seem to be in any hurry to hire a new GM. I'm optimistic about our starting pitchers returning to form next season. This year, IMO, was very fluky.
  24. Cole was awesome last night. That was a fun game to watch, a good pitcher's duel with some good defense. The Twins/Yankees game, not so much. The Twins are pathetic when it comes the playoffs.
