  1. I would normally agree 100% - yet that's all I see are reports from people saying someone will give up a lottery ticket for Buehler due to his post season work. I find it doubtful too, but seeing it said enough that I'm starting to consider it possible. Regardless, it would be not much of a piece so not worth considering in terms of what the rest could bring us.
  2. Agreed to a point. I think we have plenty of good to build on, but plenty of building left to do. And of course, trusting them to get the re-tool done correctly takes a big leap of faith. But sadly, it does feel the correct course.
  3. Devers made the move palatable to some fans because he wouldn't do what was right for the team. End of story. People can be angry at the way the FO (mis)managed this whole thing, and still be angry at Devers for his selfish behaviour.
  4. What do you think it might take to get him? Unless we go on another mini run I don't see it being at all viable for us anyway, but I can't get a handle on what it would take, and if we'd be wiling to go there.
  5. For a person that announced their arrival with 'I'm a superior baseball mind' some of these takes are wild.
  6. I rarely listen to his pod to be honest. But I was out on a hike and fired it up yesterday. I don't see him as someone that has the skivvy on a lot of things, but he's obviously quite well connected and seemed insistent on this one.
  7. My concern with this is the deadline. If we're around 2/3 games out we'll try thread the needle again, when in fact I think we should sell off. I absolutely do not want us to, but I also have no faith the team can shake off this .500 tag and get it done this year. Chapman would bring some significant pieces back. Incredibly I think we might get something for Beuhler. If Gio can give another 3/4 good performances, he will be interesting to teams. Then you have Duran/Abreu. And the top prize, Bregman if they're not looking to extend him and take out the opt out. There's a lot of pieces that can be got in return for that list, but they either have to be contributors at the MLB level next year, or prospects flipped to do so. Simply getting more prospects just ins't going to move the needle. This off season is looking bare on free agents that fit our needs. I don't want to give up on this year, but .500 just isn't getting it done and I'd rather we proper retool for next year.
  8. Calling for Campbell to play SS is about a crazy a thing as I've heard in a while.
  9. Carrabis in the latest Section 10 pod categorically stated Story is not moving off SS this year, and that Mayer is going to 2nd. Stated it as if he had been told. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me but there you go. There's lots that don't make sense to me right now.
  10. I don't think looking at it age wise is helpful. If you look at it time wise. Rafaela - 2nd season Abreu - 2nd season Anthony - just up Mayer - just up Campbell - just up Narvaez - 1st full season That's over half your line up at times that is now very inexperienced. When Duran and Hamilton are seen as more experienced than half you lineup, I think it causes issues. Which is fine, these kids will grow, but it will lead to ups and downs. Which I have no problem with as long as it is built on at some point soon. But I agree with your point in that the churn often feels like we're stuck in a cycle of not being anywhere.
  11. They'd be a laughing stock if they sacked Breslow now. And I do not think he is anywhere near deserving of the sack, even though there have clearly been some big mistakes. As you say, they'd struggle big time to get anyone in of note if they did.
  12. It's also what happen with such a young team. With so many rookies or players a year or so out of being one, there will be ups and downs. Booms and busts. Some veteran help nearing the deadline would be nice.
  13. I'm not entirely sure to be honest, but even take away the impact part, even being a contributor is only coming in at 11% and change. It's only backing up what we all already know - most prospects flame out. Though that percentage point is more damning than I expected. Edit to add - This was from 2013 to 2023.
  14. Yes and no. They need to keep these skills sharp. There is a reason why major league players continue to train fundamentals. We look sloppy. All the time. There is whole other discussion to be had whether our players are getting the right training at the lower levels defensively.
  15. This is a little aside but I saw these following stats on MLB a week or so ago. 633 prospects traded at the deadline. 23 prospects have become impact plays (3.6%). 74 prospects have become impact players or contributors (11.7%). I like collecting prospects, but I very much like trading them for high end quality, too. The hit percentage is just far too low to justify keeping them.
  16. That's how I've always understood it, too. There is a LOT of that sort of thing happening with the team. I bristle at some of the stuff said about Cora on times, but we have been garbage defensively for at least two years now. Part of that is on him. The players are not even getting fundamentals right. 🫣
  17. The guy running in has to take control over the guy running backwards, for me. Either way, Eaton should have been screaming if he was that confident. I watched the replays and it looked like neither of them opened their mouths.
  18. This has been my thinking for a little while. I think they're okay burning some of these guys in the first half and then retooling at the deadline.
  19. The sloppy part was the lack of communication. Duran has to be screaming that the play was his to make.
  20. Too early for that talk but I'm sure enjoying watching them play right now.
  21. Same. Not sure what the fuss is about. Looked a clear out to me
  22. He's not been anywhere near good enough to be able to kick up a fuss. He'll go where they tell him, or he'll go.
