    One thing I absolutely do not agree with - the pitching is going to make up for the loss of Raffy's bat. No chance. We need to go out and get another bat, too, and it still likely won't be enough.

    Hard to argue with any of that. My annoyance is specifically down to the fact his ego wouldn't allow him to help carry his teammates. First Giants press conference and he's gleefully saying he'll play anywhere - they're the boss. Management screwed up big time, but Devers can get f'd with that attitude, too. Be angry, be annoyed, air your grievances, but help the team win first and foremost. Interesting that two legends are taking up the different battens. Ortiz and Pedro going scorched earth on both Raffy and FO in their own ways, which mirrors the fan base.

    I always think I'm over the Bloom trade deadlines, until someone brings it up again.

    Although, you're pretty entrenched on Devers at the moment. I was stunned and angry when it first happened, but a fair amount of my annoyance has gone to Devers since (while still being very annoyed with how the FO/Cora allowed it to get to this). I can't wait for his 6 bombs this weekend.

    It really is tiresome. For a board slanted toward the more mature age range, the immaturity is off the scale on times.

    Imagine being one of his ex-teammates hearing that? Flat out refused to help the team. He had every right to be pissed, but to simply have no interest in helping his team because of it - he had to go.

    Agreed, and the Sale trade looked fine at the time. The guy wasn't able to stay on the field.

    Yeah this, and - we want Bregman to play 2nd base. Stupid, unnecessary, and easily avoided. But after that, it's all Cora and mostly Devers.

    For me - Breslow - 40% Devers - 40% Cora - 20% They f***ed up the communication and lied to him. Then Devers threw his toys out of the prams and s*** on his teammates.

    Do you have links for this? Can't see anything. If that's true, then the guys is better away from the place. I find it hard to believe. That said, while I am still in disbelief at the trade, I'm also fairly confident Devers was far from being a saint, or even a good teammate for stretches at points this year. The 'culture' comments are clearly barbs aimed at Devers around being a good teammate.

    Let's maybe give the guy some time? The one thing we all agreed on before he arrived was that the FO were being bad owners and not giving the team a chance to win. It takes time to build from that.

    Real blow for Miami considering they planned to get a haul for him this year.

    That is an interesting tidbit. Regardless of anything else, Devers really acted poorly at times these past few months.

    Big win to open this trip after recent events. The offence needs to get going. Without its best hitter...

    That's a fair point. I think if we come home around 500 for the trip that's a success. I just fear that we might come home quite a bit under it. The youngsters might really grasp the nettle and fly with it. But alternatively, there might be a lot of deflation. Time will tell I guess.

    This is the worry. I do trust that they now think the team is set for a while (in terms of the youth graduating and us being in a place to go for it) and that they will spend to add to this. Whether they get it right is a whole other matter.

    Cotillo and McAdams mentioned a while back that there were players who were not happy with Devers not taking 1st and helping the team and players who were backing Devers. I'd love to know the split on those numbers.

    It really feels like it. I cant see anything but a slide back under 500. Would be quite something if it goes the other way, mind you.
