  2. It helps to do your homework. Denney could have likely held out until the deadline for a bonus north of $1.2 million. The fact that he's always wanted to play for the Red Sox probably had something to do with him being such an easy sign.
  3. The Yankees will have to start the process of building from within if they want to stay competitive. They aren't the biggest spending team in baseball anymore and even if they were, there are less and less star players making it to free agency. Plus, they can't outspend other teams in the draft or on international free agents anymore and the penalties for going over the luxury tax threshold are more severe. If they fall out of contention, the smart thing to do would be to trade Cano for prospects and not saddle themselves with another albatross of a contract.
  4. Yankees are now just seven games over .500 and a game out of the second wild card.
  5. It will be really interesting to see what the Yankees do this offseason if they miss the playoffs. They already have $84 million committed to five players next year. And that doesn't include the ridiculous contract it will take to keep Cano.
  6. Yankees catch a break there, Callaspo looked safe at home.
  7. Well, that should put an end to the speculation. ...right?

  10. This is the boiling point.
  11. Orioles got Chris Davis from the Rangers in return for Uehara.
  12. I'd put Xander at third if Middlebrooks keeps up his Jeff Francouer impression.
  13. Is it too early to start a FreeXander hashtag?
  14. I'm bored. We need to hit more long balls.
  15. I'd only consider Marcum on a minor league contract if he was DFA'd.
  16. I support this message.
  17. Great start by Dempster against a great offense. His ERA is now down to 4.26, xFIP is 3.88
  18. Pretty much everyone thought he would require a bonus in the neighborhood of $1.4 million. Over the Monster Please keep your pom poms out of the Red Sox draft signing thread.
  19. I couldn't care less what you think about this. So far, your baseball related opinions and predictions have been completely bogus.
  20. This is a huge surprise. Denney was expected to get a bonus of almost twice that. The Red Sox have some serious money to burn now on someone like Sheffield.
  21. You called a pig wearing lipstick a supermodel, and now you're complaining they're boring to look at.
  22. What happened to the "revelation" that you thought Vernon Wells was? Is he hurt? Is Lyle "Overboom" hurt? Is Teixeira hurt?
  23. Also stole a base and scored the winning run.
  24. http://o.onionstatic.com/images/22/22477/original/700.jpg?3257 BOSTON—Several sources confirmed Friday that a man who is paid millions of dollars to play a game was reportedly called gutsy and lauded for a “valiant effort” to hit a small white ball with a wooden stick. “With such a plucky performance, he’s showing some real courage at the plate,” said the game’s commentator, noting the spirited determination and daring of the man who sits for hours at a time during the competition. “It’s nice in this day and age to see a player who is so lionhearted. He’s just completely fearless when he’s behind in the count.” At press time, the person who makes a living by talking about the game was describing a ball being caught in a leather mitten as absolutely beautiful. http://www.theonion.com/articles/man-who-plays-game-for-millions-of-dollars-called,32826/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=SocialMarketing&utm_campaign=standard-post:headline:default
