  1. In the top of the 11th, Brett Gardner bunted back to the pitcher who promptly threw the ball away and put Gardner on second base with no one out. Then Nix sacrifice bunted Gardner to third for one out. Cano was then intentionally walked. Then Teixeira, who is hitting .178, was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Naturally, Hafner and then Youkilis both struck out.
  2. Tie game in the bottom of the 9th. I can hardly stand the excitement!
  3. Severe thunderstorm watch until 7pm. Then there will "only" be a 70% chance of rain.
  4. If everyone just took their own advice, the world would be a better place.
  5. Bogaerts is a lot more athletic than I think a lot of people give him credit for. He lead the Eastern League in triples (6) and was five-for-six in stolen base attempts.
  6. The Yankees are a very one dimensional team, they need Sabathia and Kuroda to be near-perfect every time out if they're going to play over .500 baseball.
  7. For the "greatest closer in Red Sox history", Papelbon had a pretty big hand in the Red Sox not having won a postseason series since 2008. He blew game 3 against the Angels in 2009 and game 162 against the O's in 2011. I'd much rather pay $4 million for the crapshoot that is closers.
  8. Congratulations! He's certainly earned it.
  9. Based on what numbers, ERA? Papelbon has a .193 BABIP. As much as has been made of Bailey's health, he's pitched two innings less than Papelbon this year. Even if we use B-R, that would put Papelbon at $13 million a win and Bailey at $5.7 million a win.
  10. I'm starting to notice a theme here... Bruins win: Bruins lose:
  11. Try to keep up here. The Red Sox are planning to sign most of their top 10 picks to underslot money, so they can use that money to give Denney an overslot bonus. If the Red Sox fail to sign Denney, they can reallocate those savings elsewhere - like Sheffield.
  12. I think we're legitimately the best offensive team in baseball. We lead the majors in runs scored, OPS, wOBA, wRC+, position player WAR, etc. And while we've gotten above average production from our bench players, we've also gotten virtually no production from Middlebrooks and Gomes, who were expected to be two of our starting position players.
  13. Bailey is making $4 million, and has been worth 0.5 WAR. Papelbon is making $13 million and has been worth 0.4 WAR. This is why Ben is the GM.
  14. Personally, I would say Lackey's been the biggest surprise. I didn't expect anything from him this year.
  15. It's still really early, but I would be disappointed if the Red Sox did not at least get a wild card spot. Not only have we been really good this year, but we have tons of depth. Iglesias, Carp, Gomes and Ross make up one of the best benches in baseball. Bradley, Webster, De La Rosa, Ranaudo, Britton, Wilson, Vazquez and possibly even Bogaerts are performing at a level in the upper minors that suggests they could be helpful to the team at some point this year. For every guy like Lester, who is struggling, there's a guy like Doubront who has pitched four quality starts in a row with an ERA of 3. Or a guy like Dempster, who's pitched three quality starts in a row since dealing with a groin injury.
  16. Well, that sucked...
  17. Did you make much progress on your moving last night?
  18. The Yankees are now three games back, their offense has actually gotten worse since Teixeira and Youkilis have returned. As a team, they've hit .238/.306/.347 in the month of June.
  19. He'll fit in just fine in that clubhouse.
  20. Clarkin's just getting his physical done. He'll probably hold out until the deadline for overslot money.
  21. Solid win. We're playing the toughest part of our schedule this year and we have an opportunity to increase our lead in the division.
  22. That dirty, filthy liar! How dare he!
  23. If we sign Sheffield, it probably won't be until the July 12th deadline when we know exactly how much money we have left. For the time being, he's nothing more than a backup option for Denney.
  24. Already moved it :harhar:
  25. Yankees signed Jagielo to his exact slot amount - $1,839,400. Nothing surprising about that.
