  1. Remember this is the same owner ship group that we won in 2004 and 2007. The problem is they strayed from the plan. If BC returns to the plan that was successful I have hope that this isn't a long turn situation.
  2. If this a top ten pick they can't mess it up. It has to be someone that is a future All-Star. I would focus on a pitcher that is a can't miss.
  3. At some point he needs to hit. The glove is a given, but you still need to be a threat in the lineup. In the perfect world he would be a .280 hitter. I could live with a .240 to .250 hitter if you know you get that D.
  4. The reality of a losing season even has a lot of the diehards packing it in. Looking at the schedule the only way the O's take the AL East is if the Sox do a lot of losing to them over the next couple of weeks. I can't root for them to lose, so it is easier not to watch. Even though these loses don't mean anything it still hard to pull for another team to beat them. Plus there is the whole pay back for last year thing.
  5. If Peavy is healthy and available he would worth a look. It would have to be short term, high annual value contract. I hope the Sox learned their lesson after Lackey.
  6. The more I think about it there is no way BV returns in 2013. Attracting players outside the orginization will be impossible as long as BV is manager. What player is going to want to put themself in the situation that existed this year? Whether it is media driven or not BV is too much of a distraction.
  7. The Rays show how important pitching is. Even they can't score off Cook. I said Sox wouldn't score unless someone went big fly. Thanks Jacoby.
  8. Unless someone hits a big fly it doesn't look like the Sox score tonight. The Sox are making the Rays Cobb look like Cy Young.
  9. Between the worst September roster comment to the media and the reoving Iggy in the middle of an AB I think that BV has lost the support of any in the Nation who still supported him. It just adds to the crazy things that have happened in 2012.
  10. The problem is that second wildcard. Even if some how the O's over took the $panks, I can't see two teams beating them out for the two wild cards. Boy would it be great to have October baseball without the $panks. For me it would shut up those how are the Sox doing comments. In general life is too short to hate, unless it is the $panks you are hating.
  11. I read a couple of articles that have the Rangers looking at Ellsbury as a potential trade target in the off season. The voices in the media are growing saying that there is no way Ellsbury resigns with the Sox. Like I have said many a times, the Sox will place a value on Ells and if he wants more then he becomes a big trading chip.
  12. Glad he is in our system and is the future 1B for the next decade . . . Oh thats right we traded him away. Could you imagine a lineup with Rizzo and Middlebrooks on the corners, and Lavarnway behind the dish. That would have been three pretty good young power hitters. Oh well we did get Loney in the big trade.
  13. If you build a winner they will come.
  14. If you look at the pitching matchups in this series, and the way the Sox and Rays haven't scored runs lately these are going to be low scoring games. Its a shame that the Rays can't score any runs. If they could, with the pitching they have they would be tough to beat. With that said, LETS GO WHO EVER IS PLAYING THE $panks! The $pankees can't lose enough as far as I am concerned.
  15. The hope with acquiring as many young arms as possible is that there is at least one diamond out of the masses. If you look at the Rays they are loaded with young SP. They did it through the draft. With the Sox getting a low pick in this years draft they have to make it count. You look at all of the true aces in baseball and they are all top ten picks. It would be nice to draft such a player.
  16. The streak ends. It has been so long I don't even know where the broom is any more. Lester was rolling along and then just like that it was 3-0. What are the Sox going to do with Bard? He went from one of the best set up men in baseball to a head case that can't pitch clean innings any more. One more loss and the Sox will have their first losing season in a long time.
  17. If the FO is penciling De La Rosa any higher then number 5 then they putting to much hope on a kid that probably should start the season at AAA. If he comes into camp and blows the place up and makes the rotation great, but the worst case happening for the Sox is if they have a healthy De La Rosa pitching at AAA to start the season.
  18. Having traded A-Gon to the Dodgers what we lost getting him looks bigger. With a huge hole at 1B would't Rizzo look good there now. An Kelley has had some good starts with the Padres. He looks like he might be the real deal. With SP being another hole he would have served a purpose as well. I think after last season Theo knew he made a mistake and left a sinking ship. A lot of the post 2007 moves are looking like one mistale after another.
  19. I think there is plan to have Ciriaco play some outfield this winter. If he comes back with that tool he can be a very effective super sub. Can play 2B, SS, 3B, and give some speed to the lineup. I think he is one of the positives to a terrible summer.
  20. Guys save the hate for the $pankees. I can see this terrible mess of a season is getting to a lot of us. If the Sox are going to right the ship a fixed Lester has to be part of it. Even if he isn't a top of the rotation pitcher any more he still is an effective middle of a rotation guy who can eat innings. He is a home grown lefty that still is young. I can't give up on him, and if you look around at SP that can be had in the off season the pickings are slim.
  21. I hope the Sox have a Plan B for SS next season. Iglesias is a no-hit good glove player. He hasn't hit at any level, and doesn't show anything that leads to believe he is going to. Maybe he can be used as a chip to get a SP. With that said BV didn't do any good to the kids confidence in what he did. This was a meaningless game, and what is proved by this move other then kicking the kid when he is down.
  22. Sometimes the K's drop when a pitcher has issues with command, and constantly fall behind in the count. If pitchers are always falling behind in the count then hitters aren't swinging at the pitchers pitch and are getting more pitches that get more of the plate. When Lester is on he is always 0-2 or 1-2 on hitters and makes them swing at his pitches. I think the stuff is still their with him, but the command has been the issue.
  23. It would be great to slide a good young arm like De La Rosa into the rotation, but with the kids I think you can't rely on them to be can't miss pitchers for the rotation. Very few rookies break into a rotation as a number 1. If you have five major league tested pitchers penciled in going into spring training it is a plus, and then if a kid jumps up in the spring (De La Rosa) and over takes one of the older pitchers in the 5 hole that is a bonus. I think it would put less pressure on the kid as well.
  24. IF the Sox could some how get that true number 1 for the rotation that would do a lot at turning this thing around. I think Buchholtz has had a good second half, and if healthy could be a good number 2. Lester is close to finding it, and if the Sox can find the right pitching coach it can be fixed and he could be a really good 3.
  25. Bogaerts, Bradley and Barnes were named 2012 Second team minor league All-Stars. Great news for the future of the Sox.
