  1. At least the Guardians got their manager really quick. The Sox can't say that. Read some more today that the Jays are thinking hard about not letting Farrell out of his last year of his contract. If that is their way of jacking up their asking price then just walk away. Don't be stupid and give up anything of value.
  2. Plus you usually over pay for FA. Why would the Angels trade Trumbo any way?
  3. Tito has roots with the Guardians by the way of his father and has a good relationship with their GM. I wish him well. He took a lot of the blame and was treaded badly on his way out Boston. I will always respect Tito for what he was able to do in 2004. Down 0-3 to the $pankees and no history of that type of come back ever happening. Hewas responsible for part of the 2004 magic. The question who will be Sox next manager?
  4. Melancon would be a trading chip to get something of value from a small market team. He has a good arm, but doesn't have the head needed to pitch in Boston. Find a chip that you want from a small market team and use him to get it. Haven't seen enough of LeHair to make a call, but have to question if you want a young guy who is already being targeted as a platoon guy. Unless you get him for nothing, I can't see it happening. Like it was mentioned Theo is going to ask for the moon. I already feel violated by what we got in return for letting Theo go to Chicago early.
  5. I agree, Aviles in any more of a role then as a utility guy who could play both the infield and outfield is asking for a repeat of 2012. I just don't see him as a starting SS with a team that is looking to get back to the playoffs. An if it came down to Ciriaco or Aviles for one roster spot I would take Ciriaco. I've read that Aviles was not happy with lack of playing time in September and still sees himself as a starting SS. If he is on the 2013 version and not a starter it could be a problem.
  6. Justin Upton is the type of player you are looking for. Young and has reasonable contract for a big market team. For a team like Arizona who has to watch every dollar they feal it might be too rich for them. If you get him without selling the farm its a thought worth looking at. I think if you put him in a situation where doesn't have to be the guy (Like he is in Arizona), he has all of the tools to be a good to great player for a lot of years. I think Swishers power numbers are tainted because he plays his home games at $pankee stadium. Where pop ups to right field are home runs. I would be careful with him. He is going to ask for the moon.
  7. We need an OF who can hit with some power and play defense that doesn't kill us. If Nava is any more then a depth player at AAA then we are in for another 2012. He doesn't see Boston this year if it wasn't for all of the injuries to the outfield. He was depth player this year and because of all of the lost games by outfielders he got significant playing time.
  8. If healthy it is another arm to put in the mix down the line.
  9. I think keeping youth allows teams to have long term success. I know they said you can't rebuild in Boston because the fans want to win ever year. If the FO said that was their plan I think many in the Nation would be on board with that. Have a plan and stick to it then I could live with another season or two that we struggle. Don't put scotch tape on this thing for 2013 and say we are going to contend. Most of our minor league talent that has promise is at AA or high A. That means a year or two away from helping the team.
  10. Or their can lose the first three, make the Nation happy, and go golfing.
  11. Dice-K was never as good as people were saying. Thus he was expected to do more for the Sox then he was capable of doing. Watching him pitch sometimes was very painful. Chalk it up as a mistake and move on.
  12. I will not respect the $pankees accomlishments until they win without having the highest payroll in baseball. As far as I'm concern they bought the best record in the AL.
  13. If Nova is anything both a depth player at AAA then the FO didn't do enough upgrading to get the Sox back to respectibility. His numbers dropped the more innings he played.
  14. How did a Buchholtz thread turn into a playoff thread. For next week I become an O's fan. If that doesn't work the following week I will be a Tiger or A's fan. $pankees s_ck!
  15. A lot of people say pitching coaches don't make good managers and that may be the case with Farrell.
  16. I loved Youk and the way he played, but he is in decline as that style he plays has caused him to break down a lot the last couple of years. After a quick start with the wrong colored Sox his batting average dropped. I think you have to turn the page on this one. 1B is one of many roster spots that need to be filled, but Youk's ship has sailed.
  17. I am reading a lot about Farrell as well. If the Jays ask for some crazy compensation I hope the Sox walk away. The losing that went on in Toronto this season probably led to a lot of the problems the Jays had in the club house. Farrell had a lot of injuries to his starting pitching and he lost his best hitter for a good part of the season so that has a lot to do with their struggles. As for Varitek I here he is not interested in managing at this time. Lowell and Mueller are both interesting candidates. I had mention Ryne Sandberg as a possibility and then the Phillies made him their bench coach for 2013. He is probably going to be the next Phillies manager when Charlie leaves.
  18. BV had no chance. Between the injuries, flawed roster and some coaches not of his chosing he was bound to fail. Add on top of that BV always pours gasoline on the fire. For the media it was open season on BV. With that said he had to go and we need a new manager in place before Nov. 1.
  19. I'm a little down on him after last nights no show. Buchholtz is to inconsistent to be an ace. A Sox pitcher that can't be the $panks can not be their number one.
  20. He pitches batting practice tomorrow night for the $pankees. Dice-K don't let the door hit you on the way out. Watching him pitch over the last few seasons is like going to the dentist.
  21. The weather is going to be sh_ty for tonights game. Both Pedrioa and Ellsbury are in the lineup, but because of the weather its possible they don't play in what is a meaningless game long term. Last night was a joke. Buchholtz needs to show up. I'm a little down on him after last nights no show.
  22. At least these last three games will be meaningful. It would be nice if the Sox could make sur the $panks only get one of the wild cards. It would make the winter a little more enjoyable.
  23. I think many wouldn't mind having Kelly, Rizzo and Reddick back in the mix of youth for 2013. That is three just from last year, and I know it was along time ago (1990) but Jeff Bagwell is probably the prospect dealt that had the greatest career.
  24. Ryne Sandberg would be an interesting candidate. HOF baseball career, managing in minors since 2007. The last two with the Phillies AAA team, and was named Baseball America's 2011 Manager of the Year.
  25. The baseball season ends when the $pankees are eliminated! Hopefully, that will be in the one game wild card playoff game next week. Go Toronto!
