  1. A-Rod contract is looking might good for the $pankees. They are the only team is baseball that could eat this contract and it wouldn't effect how they do business. I can see them paying most of the Fraud's contract and dumping him somewhere. $pankees are like the mob, they pay to get rid of their problems. GO TIGERS!
  2. Big game for the Tigers tonight. You have your ace going with a $pankee lineup that would have a hard time hitting their way out of a wet paper bag. If $panks find a way to win tonight that chances, because they will have CC in game 4 and mo with them having beaten Verlander. Go Tigers! They need to step on the throat and not let the $panks up.
  3. I'm still hearing the Rangers and D. Holland's name associated with Ellsbury. It makes sence if the Rangers are done babysitting Hamilton. They let him walk, trade for Ellsbury, and sign Greike (who I here they are interested in). The question for the Sox is: is this one for one trade or are there other pieces involved?
  4. 20 million is a lot of $$$$ for someone who has been hurt a lot the last couple of seasons. Didn't we just dump a salary (Crawford) of a guy that seam to be hurt all the time. I like Tulo, but not for those $$$$ and for that length of contract.
  5. Varitek is not intersted in managing at this time. Both Pena and Hale will interview this week. Unless there is someone from one of the teams still playing the manager will probably one of those already interviewed, or are scheduled to interview. Wallach, Ausmus, Pena and Hale. Obvious Farrell's name is still out there.
  6. Some are complaining Ellsbury always hurt, but so is Tulo. The only difference is that Tulo already has a huge contract not only in $$$, but years. Can't see the Sox trading Bogaerts and whoever for Tulo. Didn't we just dump huge iffy contracts in August? I like Tulo, but not with that contract.
  7. It is hard enough for a 39 year old to play SS in the show on a winning team when they are healthy, but a position that relies on healthy legs a broken ankle is a major problem. Maybe now ARod can get his position back that he lost when he came over to the $pankees. Go Tigers!
  8. If Rangers trade for Ellsbury the names I've heard are SS Andrus (Not Profar) and SP D. Holland. If Rangers let Hamilton walk this trade could get some legs. The Rangers short post season run makes them ready to make some bold moves. Hopefully, a trade of Ellsbury would bring back some quality pieces.
  9. What does Verlander destroying the Sox lineup have to do with the 2013 playoffs and the $pankees having to deal with Verlander? The $panks throwing Kuroda on short rest in a must game for them should be interesting. He has never pitched on three days rest. If Tigers win today they go back to Detroit up 2 games with one of the best pitchers in baseball going for them. Facing him down 0-2 and with several struggling hitters in the lineup it could be time to get tee times for the $panks. Go Tigers!
  10. Boras guys using go where the $$$ are the greatest. That is not going to be with the Sox, unless he really wants to play here and takes less to stay. If that is the case then the two options are trade now or trade before the trading deadline in 2013. There are only a hand full of CF with the talent of Ellsbury so there will be a demand for him. The Sox need to get the best possible value for him that will speed up the rebuilding process.
  11. They can't leave any stone unturned. Its good that they are looking. Other teams have had success finding foreign players that have helped them right away.
  12. Varitek says he doesn't want to manage at this point, maybe in the future. I thought Sandberg would have been a good selection, but so did the Phillies. He was promoted to 3B coach and looks like he will replace Charlie M. when he is done or if the Phillies have another season like this year. Now that the Orioles' season has ended the Sox might give Hale an interview. I just hope they go though the process and name a manager before Nov. 1 so that guy can pick his own coaching staff. When the coaches aren't talking to the manager and managers aren't talking to the coaches you have a mess that doesn't help win ball games.
  13. I wonder what trade value Ellsbury has? We all know that when healthy Ellsbury is a talented player, but because he was hurt last year and didn't play a lot are teams going to offer value in return. Add on top of that its his walk year and teams that would trade for him have to deal with Boras after the 2013 season. If the Sox keep Ellsbury and he has a monster season like 2011 he is going to ask for the moon which will most likely lead to him leaving. This is a tough call for the Sox. It would be a lot easier if we knew Bradley was ready to go.
  14. If the Rangers let Hamilton walk they would have interest in Ellsbury. If Andrus is a SS the Sox are targeting then that is a possible trade match. A Tulo trade would be the Rockies trying to get out from underneath a large contract. Another name that falls in that category is Mauer. If the Twins are looking to dump a large contract the Sox could benefit with that. He could play a lot of first, and catch some. He is the type of hitter that can hit .300 in his sleep. He has enjoyed success at Fenway in his career.
  15. I agree that player development is only is good as the talented players being drafted. The core of the 2007 team was home grown players. Long term success for a team comes through the draft.
  16. I think the Sox announcing that Wallach and Ausmus are set to interview means that those two guys are on the top of the Sox list of candidates. I could see either one going far in the process.
  17. Lets get a manager first. An then let him select a pitching coach that he can work with. FO forcing coaches on managers is something that the Sox can' afford to do again. The manager and pitching coach have to be on the same page or the pitching staff takes a hit. (See 2012 season)
  18. I think he means that Iggy has more potential for growth, while Aviles is a finished product. When or a BIG IF, Iggy can at least consistantly hit .250 his D would put his value higher then Aviles. Iggy has a higher ceiling. I think that is what he meant. I agree Iggy has a higher ceiling, but until he can hit at least .250 it only is potential. An potential doesn't win games.
  19. There are a lot of guys that things don't click right away, and then they catch on with another team and they take off. Maybe Gonzalez fits into that category. Then again when the teams in the AL East see him some more they might have more success against him. When hitters haven't seen a pitcher the advantage goes to the pitcher. Maybe that is what he is enjoying right now. WERTH JUST HAD A WALK OFF HR FOR THE NATS!
  20. I think Wallach would make my short list as well.
  21. Ellsbury's production when he came back from the injury was not that great. He needs to prove that he is 100% healthy, and to do that he needs to have a strong start to 2013. Regardless of were / if he is traded you no Boras is taking him to the open market. He will not sign before that.
  22. Best case for the Sox if next year is a bridge year is that both Ellsbury and J Bradley get off to hot starts. The Sox trade Ellsbury before trading deadline for other needs and promote Bradley. If Bradley not ready by middle of next season he should be good to go by the spring of 2014.
  23. Belt had 7 HR in 411 AB. The guy we got from the Dodgers can do that and he plays good D as well. I don't want him either because you need more power out of 1B. Belt has been very up and down with the Giants. The guy is 6'5 and 220 lbs and bats lefty and 7 HR in 411 AB?
  24. Tim Wallach is an interesting name that has been mentioned. I think the Sox are going to interview him and he is interested. He had some success at AAA with the Dodgers. In 2009 he was named Pacific Coast League manager of the year as his team won a franchise record number of games. I liked him as a player and have heard good things about him.
